So checking the mail today I find an envelope from Bell. The College Sports network package has been dropped, but in it's place is the U.S. College Football package. Now being the football fan that I am this was too good to say no. The price is $49.99 for the entire season and will include Big 10, Pac 10, ACC, SEC, Big 12, MAC, WAC, Sun Belt, Conference USA, Mountain West and more (their words). SD on channels 391-396 and HD on 397 and 398. For a college football lover this is long overdue. I called and ordered and the package starts Sept. 2nd. Now the catch as I see it is that if you want US College Basketball I have a hunch that will be another package for $49.99. But that is only supposition and in the end is still at the $100 mark for both if that is indeed the case. College football....bring it on!

Big Ten Network games?

I'm interested to see whether they will have anything besides the ESPN games (which is all they've showed in the past). I notice that they've included the Big Ten. Perhaps they'll pick up some games from the Big Ten Network this year.

Probably just wishful thinking...

Agreed

That was the way I saw it. With all of the conferences that are going to be scheduled, I have to believe that this is more than ESPN feeds. The Big Ten Network is what I am hoping for as well but only time will tell.

Ive never ordered this before, but I am considering this year. I am huge SEC fan, so I usually get my fix on CBS...but with ESPN getting into the SEC recently im thinking of adding this.

My question is, does this package include the games being shown on ESPN and ESPN 2 or is it for smaller regional games that are usually on ppv?? I would get this package if it gets me the prime ESPN and ESPN2 stuff...for example Boise St vs V Tech will be on ESPN at 8 on monday, would I get the game with this package???

thanks, this is my first post and college football is the reason I signed up to this forum !

My Guess...

I am thinking that it will be a mix of a large variety of games including both the smaller conferences and the majors. And knowing that the Boise State game is a big one, it will be somewhere on the satellite. Now as of this moment, I am not sure what the TV schedule will be so keep watching this forum. The games start on Sept. 2nd so as soon as I see what is scheduled, I will post it in time for you to decide. Hey....gotta love it, college football is very nearly upon us!

It's a start...

The only games they show on the schedule so far are for Thusday the 2nd. Not too much to start as it looks like Southern Miss against So. Carolina and Minnesota against Middle Tennesee. But for a college football addict like myself, that is a start and some games I normally would not see. Saturday is the schedule I want to see....

Missed one that is on late due to the venue. USC vs Hawaii.

Assuming it's like previous years, it should include virtually every game from ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU as well as several ESPN Gameplan games (including regional ABC games).
Although if a game is being shown by the Score or TSN/TSN2 it will most likely not be on this package.

I have purchased the college football package. The package is offering 3 games on Thursday, Sept. 2. Two of the games offered in the package are also shown on the Score. Minnesota/Mid Tennessee is the only game that the package is showing that can't be seen elsewhere.

I'm very ticked off because the big Thursday night game is the Pitt Panthers vs. Utah Utes. I doesn't look like this game will be shown. Can they still add a game, or is Thursday's schedule set in stone? The game is being shown in the USA on Versus.

Games from Versus and Fox Sportsnet have never been included in this package. Only games from the ESPN family of networks.
As for the overlap with games on the Score, it does happen sometimes but last year it was rare.

Based on week 1, I don't see any difference in this football package from last year. I also don't understand why there are only 2 HD games being shown on Saturday. Does somebody know how the HD broadcast rights work? Normally they would show whatever was on ESPN and ESPN2 on the HD channels.

Both NCAA HD channels share transponder space with a couple of full-time channels, as well as the MLB and Nascar packages. Early in the season, the MLB and Nascar channels take priority if there's a conflict so we often miss some HD games for that reason.
