When you ordered your 830 did it come with a remote?FWIW, my new PVR830 is working fine in every way.
Definitely. It wouldn't be useable without a remote controller. When you ordered your 830 did it come with a remote?
Is it the same remote that the 630 uses?Definitely. It wouldn't be useable without a remote controller.
Physically, they appear identical with all the same buttons. The 630 remote was identified as IR/RF600 in its instruction manual. The 830 is identified as Arris IRC600/URC600 in its instruction manual. And the 830 remote has model number URC600 on the back.Is it the same remote that the 630 uses?
@Dr.Dave Same topic but do you know if it's possible to view recordings from the internal drive of a 630 that has been decommissioned?I can't answer your eSATA to USB cable question, but I just wanted to remind you that any recordings on the external hard drive are tied to the 630 hardware and there's no way to transfer them to the 830. There's a discussion earlier in this thread: 830 PVR Discussions
I don't know for sure, but I think it is most likely that a DVR (630 or 830) that is no longer subscribed should be able to use its internal hardware to access the hard drive and so be able to play recordings....possible to view recordings from the internal drive of a 630 that has been decommissioned?
Yes, they will still work!@Dr.Dave Same topic but do you know if it's possible to view recordings from the internal drive of a 630 that has been decommissioned?
There would be one exception to this - if your account has been disconnected or downgraded (Seasonal Break program or a non-pay situation).@goalsgo Note that you can watch the recordings on the external drive as long as it is connected to the original PVR.
You don't seem to be getting an answer. Since they say USB2 or USB3 I imagine since esata is faster than usb2..a cable should work.I just “upgraded” to a 830 from a 630.
On the 630 I had an external hard drive hooked up from the esata port on the 630 to the esata port on the hard drive. On the 830 there isn’t an esata port, but there is a usb. Can someone confirm an eSATA to USB cable would work? Thank you.
Interesting I did not know this. So there are situations where your external drive could become a brick. There would be one exception to this - if your account has been disconnected or downgraded (Seasonal Break program or a non-pay situation).
How does Shaw erase recordings when the PVR is disconnected from the satellite? Just curious. There would be one exception to this - if your account has been disconnected or downgraded (Seasonal Break program or a non-pay situation).
