  1. Telus IPTV (also known as Optik TV)
For the last two days I have been experiencing sidgnal drops on Telus TV (Optik), OK for about five minutes then drops for about a minute. I have done all the reboots and restarts about five times. Internet is not affected. Any pointers?

It has been suggested a new thread be started to compare these two competing offerings so here it is. I can't speak to the Telus Optik service but if there are one or more members who can and are willing to post here, I am willing to offer up what I know about Shaw's Gateway as I own one with a...
  3. Telus IPTV (also known as Optik TV)
Hi Just had a query, does anybody know of a way to connect to the PVR remotely, Mac or PC so that you can access the recordings from a machine on the network. Should be possible I would imagine, at the end of the day the PVR recordings are just mpg files or a like. Is there a way you can...
  4. Telus IPTV (also known as Optik TV)
I do have the Telus D-Link wireless router that Telus gave me, but I'm having some interference issues at my place. Thus, I've decided to buy a dual-band router (Linksys Cisco E2500). I've setup the Internet fine, with a good performance, but when I've turned the TV ON, the Internet connection...

My topic spans two different forums, but I think this is the right place to post it.. :p First, a bit of background. I have been a MythTV user for many years now. I am not particularly technical, but I have been able to keep things working with just the occasional assistance from a...
  6. Telus IPTV (also known as Optik TV)
Hi all I've been having some issues with the video feed on my Xbox 360 that plays my Optik TV. Randomly, the feed (video and audio) will become extremely choppy and will sometimes freeze completely for several seconds at a time. This appears to be completely random and doesn't appear to happen...
  7. Telus IPTV (also known as Optik TV)
I recently moved one of my receivers (PVR) to a different outlet. After the box was moved, I've noticed that simsubbing does not consistently occur on the American HD channels on this box. My other HD receiver (non-PVR) consistently receives the simsub broadcast. I've also noticed that the PVR...

  9. Telus IPTV (also known as Optik TV)
So, I was installed with OPTIK service yesterday and have come across my first issue. We have the PVR (430) hooked up via HDMI to our main floor tv - which is mounted above a fireplace with no way to fish any component cables + Audio down to the mantel shelf that the box was on. anyhow...

I just moved to Vancouver and had Bell Express Vu HD in the past as well as Sky HD in the UK. I found the latter 2 comparable. I think Bell has a great interface and is very reliable. I do not particularly enjoy the Shaw interface and Telus is a bit of a wild card. Am leaning toward Telus (TV -...
  11. Telus IPTV (also known as Optik TV)
Has anyone cracked open (or contemplated cracking open) the SA430 to replace the drive? I peeked through the bottom of the box Telus supplied for MR and notice a WD 320GB SATA drive inside (have a 500GB drive sitting idle). Given that MR uses Windows CE as an OS, it would be easy to clone the...
  12. Telus IPTV (also known as Optik TV)
Not sure if this is the appropriate forum to put it in but I have a question with the 3-in-1 (modem, switch, router) D-Link box Telus is supplying with TTV service. From what I see, it appears that the ethernet-connected computers first go through a Switch (on the Vista network map) before that...
  13. Telus IPTV (also known as Optik TV)
I'm making the jump from Bell Sat to Telus Mediaroom and my install date is Feb 21. I have a couple questions regarding the install: 1) Is there any benefit to install using CAT 5 vs coax to the tv locations? 2) What is the normal set-up and install for 3 boxes (1 PVR)? Is it just phone line...
  14. Telus IPTV (also known as Optik TV)
Anyone know if Telus plans to allow XBOX owners to use it as a STB with the new roll out to MediaRoom? I know AT&T plan on allowing U-Verse subscribers to later this year. I am currently with BellTV, but I think this would tip the scales to the point where I would switch to TelusTV.
