Show asks if we are programmed to be fat?

The obesity epidemic is nothing new, but controversial new science is looking beyond the obvious reason of increased caloric consumption.

Next week, in a show entitled “Programmed to be Fat?” the CBC’s Nature of Things with David Suzuki examines the link between endocrine-disrupting chemicals and obesity.

Angry Boys mockumentary among HBO premieres this month

Angry Boys, a twelve part Australian television mockumentary series and the third season of Less Than Kind are two of the new shows which debut this month on HBO and HBO Canada.

Written by and starring Chris Lilley, Angry Boys explores the issues faced by young males in the 21st century – their influences, their pressures, their dreams and ambitions. Lilley plays multiple characters: S.mouse, an American rapper; Jen, a manipulative Japanese mother; Blake Oakfield, a champion surfer; Ruth “Gran” Sims, a guard at a juvenile detention facility; and her grandchildren, South Australian twins Daniel and Nathan Sims.

HBO Canada to replay “The Wire” Season One

If you never watched HBO’s critically acclaimed television show “The Wire” when it first aired, then be sure to mark December 15th at 8pm on your calendar.

The Wire is an American television crime drama series set and produced in and around Baltimore, Maryland which aired on HBO for five seasons ending in March of 2008.

Drama Series “The Hour” coming to Netflix in January

The Hour, a six part drama series which aired earlier this year on the BBC debuts today on Netflix.

The series centres on a new current affairs show being launched by the BBC in June 1956 during the time of the Suez Crisis. It originally aired on the BBC in the United Kingdom and stars Dominic West, Romola Garai and Ben Whishaw.
