Rogers announces a further expansion of its LTE Wireless service

Rogers Wireless today announced the expansion of its next generation 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless network service into more cities surrounding the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding Vancouver.

Shaw launches broadband WiFi network trial

Shaw Communications today announced it has begun consumer trials of its broadband wireless network using WiFi technology.

The company says Shaw High Speed Internet customers can trial the service at a limited number of locations, including malls, restaurants and fitness facilities, in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton.

Bell Media Radio signs broadcast extension with the Vancouver Canucks

Bell Media’s Team 1040 (CKST) radio station and the Vancouver Canucks announced this week a new broadcast deal which gives the station radio rights to all Canucks games through to the 2016-17 season.

The all-sports radio station has been the home of the Canucks Radio Network since 2006.

Distributel now offering cable internet service in Western Canada

Third Party Internet Access provider Distributel Communications announced today that its now offering high-speed Internet services in Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Richmond and Surrey.

Distributel has been offering Internet and telecommunications services in Ontario and Quebec since September of this year. Prior to September the company operated for many years under the 3Web, CIA, Cyberus and Cybersurf brand name.

Rogers LTE Network goes live in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver

Rogers Communications Inc. announced today its Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless network service is now live Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. The company had previously launched its LTE network launched in Ottawa on July 7th.

Firmware updates for Shaw Whole Home PVR coming this week

Shaw Cable has announced the first firmware update for its Whole Home PVR system was deployed this morning in Vancouver and will be rolled out nationally on Thursday.

Released this past summer, the Shaw Gateway is a digital set top box which connects to the coaxial cable coming into the home and then acts as a server or central hub to one or more portals throughout the home.

Rogers Launches SONiC radio in BC

Rogers Radio today relaunched CFUN-FM in Chilliwack British Columbia as SONic radio at 8:35 a.m. Pacific time.

Officially licenced to Chilliwack, the Top 40 music station operates at 107.5 FM in Chilliwack, Sonic will also be rebroadcast on 92.5 FM in Abbotsford, and on 104.9 FM in Vancouver.
