MAC OS X Lion now available for download

Apple announced today the eighth major release of its Mac OS X operating system (OS) is now available from the Mac App store.

Called Lion, the new OS, is perhaps the most radical OS update in years thanks to more than 250 new features including Multi-touch gestures, system-wide support for full screen apps and resume, which brings your apps back exactly how you left them when you restart your computer or quit and relaunch a program.

Shaw Direct’s promised firmware upgrade will never happen

In November 2008, Star Choice, now called Shaw Direct, announced that it would be updating the firmware of its DVR530, DSR505, DSR317, and DSR207 satellite receivers in the spring of 2009.

At the time, Canada’s number two Direct-to-home satellite television provider promised firmware updates with new features such as an enhanced electronic program guide, improved information screens for shows and movies, interactive search, new features for the digital video recorder and more.

Mozilla updates Firefox to fix critical bugs

Mozilla has released an update to the Firefox web browser which fixes a critical security flaw which could allow an attacker to take control of an infected system.

Firefox 3.6.2 also includes fixes for several other security and stability issues
