Hollywood Suite, a privately owned Toronto based company headed by former Chum CEO Jay Switzer, announced today that it would launch four new high-definition movie channels across Canada this November.

The digital specialty channels will air HD Movies uncut, unedited and commercial free throughout the week.

New HBO movie dramatizes the creation of TV’s first reality TV show

HBO Canada has announced it will premiere Cinema Verite, starring James Gandolfini, Dianne Lane and Time Robbins, day and date with HBO, on April 23.

The film gives a dramatized look at the events surrounding the creation of the 1973 PBS documentary “An American Family”, which chronicled the lives of the Louds in the early 1970s and catapulted the Santa Barbara family to notoriety in the creation of a new genre – the reality TV series

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena coming to TMN

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, a Starz television series which premieres in the United States on January 21st, will debut in Canada two nights later on The Movie Network and Movie Central.

The graphic series is billed as a six-part prequel to Spartacus: Blood and Sand which aired last winter

TMN, HBO and Family programming added to Videotron Video on demand

Starting Wednesday December 15th, Videotron subscribers of The Movie Network (TMN), HBO Canada, Family Channel and Playhouse Disney will have access to English-language movies and series from these networks as part of their illico on Demand service, at no extra cost.

The move is an attempt by Astral Media, Canadian distributors of the premium channels, to entice more Videotron customers to subscribe to the channels.
