HBO Canada announces Fall Premieres

HBO Canada today announced the fall premiere dates for popular HBO programming such as Call Me Fitz, Boardwalk Empire, Bored to Death and Hung.

The Astral owned station, which fills out its schedules with movies and Canadian produced specials, says that all of its HBO programming will premiere on the same day-and-date as south of the border.

Average American watches over 34 hours of Television a week

The average American watched 34 hours and 39 minutes of television per week during the final three months of 2010 according to a recent State of the Media report by the Nielsen company.

One in five Canadians own a PVR

According to a July 2010 survey conducted on behalf of the Television Bureau of Canada, 64 percent of Canadians subscribe to digital television (DTV) and 38 percent of DTV subscribers own a personal video recorder (PVR). Among all Canadian adults, approximately one in five (20%) now own a PVR.

The survey, which polled 1,000 people, also found that five out of six (86%) of PVR owners used the devices to record and view programs at a later time or date.

Simultaneous use of Internet and TV up 35% in U.S.

In the last quarter of 2009, the amount of time Americans spent using the Internet while watching TV reached three and a half hours a month, up 35% from the previous quarter.

The results are according to The Nielsen Company’s latest Three Screen Report, which tracks consumption across TV, Internet and mobile phones.

Online Canadians spend more time on Internet than watching TV

The average online Canadian spends 18.1 hours per week online versus 16.9 hours watching television according to the results of a recent survey by Ipsos Reid.

The firm’s findings were based on an internet only survey of 839 adult Canadians who were part of an Ipsos online panel.

World Junior Hockey Gold medal game on TSN tonight

Team Canada is seeking to win its sixth straight gold medal at the World Junior Hockey Championship on Tuesday when they take on the United States.

The game will be broadcast on TSN and TSN HD at 7:30pm ET/4:30pm PT. The bronze medal game between Sweden and Switzerland can be seen live at 4pm ET/1pm PT.

Americans watch 31 hours of television a week

The average American watched 31 hours of television per week in the third quarter of 2009 according to the latest Nielsen Three Screen Report.

The report by the American ratings measurement giant is a quarterly analysis of how how much time the average American spends in a typical week with TV, Internet and mobile devices.
