Contagion last week’s top DVD seller

The medical thriller “Contagion” was the top selling movie in North America last week, while “Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes,” now out for four weeks, took top spot on the rental charts according to figures published today by Rentrak.

Contagion, whose ensemble cast includes Marion Cotillard, Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kate Winslet, follows the rapid progress of a lethal indirect contact transmission virus that kills within days.

The Hangover Part II tops last week’s DVD sales charts

The American comedy film “The Hangover Part II” was the top selling movie in North America last week, while Cowboys and Aliens took top spot on the rental charts according to figures published today by Rentrak.

The sequel to 2009’s The Hangover takes place two years later when Phil, Stu, Alan and Doug travel to Thailand for Stu’s wedding. After a pre-wedding brunch, the four somehow manage to wake up in a dirty hotel room in Bangkok and the adventure begins.

Harry Potter tops last week’s DVD charts

For the second week in a row Fantasy film “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” was the top selling movie on DVD in North America according to figures published today by Rentrak. The film was also the top rental after coming second to “The Change Up” last week.

The eighth and final instalment in the Harry Potter film series follows the protagonist’s quest to find and destroy Lord Voldemort’s Horcruxes. The film grossed over $1.3 billion at the box office.

Captain America tops last weeks DVD charts

Action film “Captain America: The First Avenger” was the top selling movie and the top rental on DVD in North America last week according to figures published today by Rentrak.

The superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character which tells the story of Steve Rogers, a sickly man from Brooklyn who is transformed into super soldier Captain America, grossed over $366 million at the box office

Fast Five tops last weeks DVD charts

Action film “Fast Five” was the top selling movie and the top rental on DVD in North America last week according to figures published today by Rentrak.

The fifth installment in the Fast and the Furious film series, which follows Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) as he and his gang plan a heist to steal $100 million from corrupt businessman, grossed over $600 million at the box office.

X-Men: First Class tops last week’s DVD Charts

American Superhero film “X-Men: First Class” from Fox Studios was the top selling movie and the top rental on DVD in North America last week according to figures published today by Rentrak.
