Hockeycentral app for Playbook released

Rogers Media has announced that its Sportsnet Hockeycentral App for the BlackBerry PlayBook is now available for owners of the new tablet computer

Similar to the Hockeycentral app for the iPad, the Playbook app is designed to keep NHL fans up-to-date on the latest scores, stats and hockey news.

Mobilicity offers BlackBerry tablet and smartphone bundle

Coinciding with this week’s launch of Research in Motion’s (RIM) new Playbook tablet computer, Mobilicity has announced a new Blackberry tablet and Smartphone bundle which can save buyers of both devices $100 in rebates.

Under the terms of the deal, new Mobilicity customers who purchase a BlackBerry PlayBook and either a BlackBerry Bold 9780 or BlackBerry Curve 3G smartphone by May 15th along with any Mobilicity voice plan and data add-on will be eligible for the rebate.

New TV show is all about Smartphone and Tablet APPs

The Business News Network (BNN) and CP24, digital television stations owned by CTV Networks, have announced a new television show called App Central explores the growing market of apps for tablets and smartphones.

The thirty minute show, featuring on-air talent Amber MacArthur, Michael Hainsworth and Kris Abel, will report on the latest apps, interview their creators, and offer up an app related gadget review.

RIM Playbook goes on sale April 19th

Research in Motion’s (RIM) PlayBook tablet computer will go on-sale at more than 20,000 retail locations in the United States and Canada on April 19th, the company announced today.

The PlayBook goes on sale in Canada just days after the launch of the Motorola android powered Xoom tablet and three weeks after the launch of the Apple iPad 2 tablet.
