Saturday Night Live arrives on Shaw VOD

American late-night television sketch comedy and variety show Saturday Night Live (SNL) is now available on Shaw Video-on-demand (VOD).

Shaw Cable becomes the first Canadian television provider to offer full seasons of Saturday Night Live commercial free on its VOD service.

Shaw latest to roll out Internet VOD

Following in the footsteps of its cable and satellite competitors, Shaw Cable yesterday rolled out an Internet video on demand service where subscribers can order pay per view movies online and then watch them via cable or the internet.

In order to use the new service, users must be Shaw Digital Cable customers with at least one digital cable box and must subscribe to Shaw Internet.

Videotron launches online video portal

Videotron today announced the launch of “illico web,” a new online service which will Videotron digital cable customers access to video content from 32 television channels including TVA, Radio-Canada, LCN, RDI, Meteomedia, Super Ecran and MusiquePlus.

Content from eight popular English language channels such as HBO Canada, The Movie Network, YTV and Treehouse Television will also be included.

NFB now serving up HD and 3D films online

Last year, The National Film Board of Canada marked its 70th anniversary with the introduction of an online screening where web users could view over 700 NFB productions, films, trailers and clips.

Since that time, the number of productions online has climbed to over 1,400 and this year, the organization is adding even more goodies with the addition of high-definition 720p (HD) films and recent experiments in online 3D.

Rogers Cable to hike Internet overage fees by 100%!

Imagine you are a Rogers Ultra-lite internet customer that pays $26 a month for Internet service and imagine over the holidays, while you were off work, you decided to view some “free” movies online from Rogers new on Demand online (RODO) service.

Then imagine that a few months later you receive a bill for $76 because during your time off, the “free” Rogers on demand videos online that you watched caused you to exceed your monthly bandwidth cap by 10GB or more.

CTV expands online offerings for December

Perhaps in response to Rogers recent Rogers On Demand online offering, CTV announced this week it would be offering an expanded list of online viewing for December.

Among the expanded offerings, the network will make available every episode of this seasons Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Criminal Mind, Flash Forward and Private Practice available for online viewing.

Rogers on Demand online launches next week

Last week, Digital Home told you about a new online on-demand service from Rogers which would deliver a selection of TV programming to customer’s computers.

Last night, the company announced the online portal would launch next Monday November 30th with approximately 1,500 videos and 15 content providers.

Rogers expected to launch On-Demand Online next week

Next Monday in the Silver Screening Room at the Hazelton Hotel in Yorkville, Rogers Communication is expected to unveil its new Rogers On-Demand Online service.

Details of the new service are sketchy at this point but from what Digital Home has been able to learn, the new service will offer Rogers customers the ability to watch Video On Demand programming on their home computer.
