Rhapsody to acquire Napster

Rhapsody, the largest online on-demand music service in the United States with over 750,000 subscribers, today announced that has signed an agreement with Best Buy Inc. to acquire Napster, the second largest online on-demand music service in the U.S.

Sonos now serving up music in a million rooms

Sonos Inc. recently announced that its devices are now streaming music to more than a million rooms around the world.

Founded in 2002, Sonos is a privately owned manufacturer of wireless music systems based out Santa Barbara California. The Sonos Wireless HiFi System is a popular choice for many Digital Home readers due to its relative low cost and ease of use.

Galaxie offers up its music streaming service to smartphone users

Montreal based Stingray Digital announced today the launch of Galaxie Mobile, a subscription based streaming music service for Android and iOS users.

The new service offers Android smartphone and Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users access to the forty-five commercial and talk-free music channels found on the Galaxie service.

Rdio now available on Sonos

Sonos, makers of wireless music systems for the home, and Rdio, a premium music streaming service this week announced today that Rdio (pronounced ar-dee-oh) is now available to Sonos users.

Beginning today, Sonos customers in the United States and Canada can sign up to the service for $9.99 per month.

Wolfgang’s Vault streaming music service now on Sonos

Sonos, makers of wireless music systems for the home, and Wolfgang’s Vault, a premium music streaming service this week announced an agreement that will make the streaming service available to Sonos users.

Wolfgang’s Vault features an online collection of over 3,500 live concert recordings including performances by such artists as Bob Dylan, Elton John, the Grateful Dead, Miles Davis, Bruce Springsteen, Jimmy Buffett, Pink Floyd, U2, Tom Petty, Van Morrison, and the Who.
