AdMob reports reveals massive growth of mobile web

The September 2009 Mobile Metrics Report from AdMob was released today and it provides some interesting insights into the growth of the mobile web.

The firm, which serves up ads to mobile devices from over 15,000 mobile sites, said that it served up more than 10.2 billion advertisments in September 2009, double the number it served up in September 2008.

Consumers unhappy with performance of mobile web sites

In a study released today by Gomez, slow load times were cited as the chief complaint by 1001 mobile web users.

The report entitled “Why the Mobile Web is Disappointing End-Users” found that two out of three have encountered problems when accessing web sites with more than half reporting the content was either too large or small for the size of their mobile phone’s screen.

U.S. mobile web browsing climbs 34%

Recent numbers from The Nielsen Company have found that the number of website visitors in the U.S. using a mobile device increased 34 percent year-over-year, from 42.5 million mobile Web visitors in July 2008 to 56.9 million in July 2009.

The biggest increase among mobile web browsers was among women, teens and senior.
