Worldwide Mobile phone sales up 35% in recent quarter

Worldwide mobile phone sales rose 35 percent to 417 million units in the third quarter of 2010, when compared to the same period in 2009, according to a Gartner report released this week.

The strong growth in overall mobile phone sales was largely attributable to the double-digit growth of smartphone sales in mature markets.
