Web Browser Share for October

Once again, Google’s Chrome web browser continued to gain market share on the desktop at the expense of Internet Explorer and Firefox in October 2011 according to recent figures published by NetMarketshare.

Total worldwide browser usage in September 2011 for Chrome was 17.62% up over 1.4 percentage points from September and more than double the 8.76% recorded in the same month of 2010.

Total worldwide browser usage in August 2011 for Chrome was 15.51%, up 2.02% from July and more than double the 7.72% recorded in the same month of 2010.

Total worldwide usage in July 2011 for Chrome was 13.49%, up 0.38% from June and up over 85% from the 7.16% recorded in the same month of 2010. The Apple Safari browser recorded a 8.1% market share up from 7.48% in March and up over 60% from the same month of 2010.

Firefox 4.0 usage quickly outpacing IE 9.0

To significant fanfare, the world’s two most popular web browsers were updated in March.

Version nine of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, the world’s most popular web browser, was released on March 14th while Mozilla, makers of the world’s second most popular web browser, released Firefox version 4.0 on March 22nd

The Google Chrome web browser continues to gain market share at the expense of Internet Explorer and Firefox according to recent figures published by NetMarketshare.

Total worldwide usage in February 2011 for Chrome was 10.93%, up 0.23% from January and almost double the 5.61% recorded in the same month of 2010.

Internet Explorer 9 RC now available for download

Microsoft today announced the RC version of Internet Explorer 9 web browser for Windows Vista and Windows 7 is now available for download.

The Release Candidate (RC) is an update to the beta version which was released last September and is the last milestone before the production release of the browser.
