HTC Announces New Smartphone, the HTC 10, Coming Late-April

HTC announces the arrival of the HTC 10, a new smartphone coming to Canada at the end of April.

HTC Amaze coming to Wind Mobile December 2nd

The HTC Amaze 4G smartphone, currently a Telus Mobility exclusive, will be available from Wind Mobile beginning Friday, December 2nd.

The Android 2.3-powered device, which will sell for $569 outright and $249 on the Windtab, features a Qualcomm 1.5 GHz dual core processor, 4.3-inch super LCD HD (960 x 540 pixel) capacitive touch screen, 1GB RAM, microSD slot for up to 32GB of additional storage 8 megapixel camera, and a 2 megapixel front-facing camera for video calling.

HTC confirms massive security hole with its Smartphones

This past weekend, Android Police, a website specializing in all things Android, published an article which uncovered a “massive security vulnerability” with HTC Android devices, many of which are currently sold in Canada.

The site said that a recent HTC updated loaded a program called HtcLoggers which could be used by hackers to collect confidential users information such as user accounts and phone numbers

HTC 3D Smartphone available in Canada this week

HTC announced today that its first 3D smartphone, the HTC EVO 3D will be available in store from Rogers Wireless beginning August 11th.

Unveiled earlier this year, the phone features dual five megapixel rear cameras capable of capturing and recording in 2D at 1080p, and 3D at 720p and 30 fps and a 4.3 inch 3D display that lets users view 3D images without glasses.

Almost 100 Million Smartphones sold in first quarter of 2011

In the first quarter of 2011, worldwide smartphone sales totaled 99.6 million units, up 79.7% from the 55.4 million units in the first quarter of 2010 according to a recent report from IDC.

The research firm attributes the rapid increase in sales to a combination of more mid-range and entry-level offerings and lower pricing.

HTC Desire Z smartphone coming to Bell

HTC, a Taiwan-based manufacturer of smartphones, has announced that its upcoming HTC Desire Z Android-based smartphone will be available from Bell Mobility in coming weeks.

The company says the Android 2.2 (Froyo) powered device will be the first smartphone in Canada offering download speeds up to 14.4 megabits per second.

Apple suing HTC for patent infringement

Apple today announced that it has filed a lawsuit against HTC for infringing on 20 Apple patents involving the iPhone’s user interface, underlying architecture and hardware.

The lawsuit was filed concurrently with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and in U.S. District Court in Delaware.

HTC Hero Android phone debuts on Telus

Telus on Thursday went live with its new HSPA network and announced that it had added the HTC Hero Android smartphone to it’s lineup.

The HTC Hero, which is the company’s first device to incorporate the HTC Sense design framework, features a 3.2-inch touchscreen, megapixel autofocus camera, MicroSD memory card slot, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR and A2DP music streaming capability; WiFi; and 3.5mm audio jack.
