Aside from the Android Market app itself, Facebook, Google Maps and Gmail are the most used Android apps used by American according the first mobile media rankings from Nielsen.

Using data collected from on-device meters on thousands of Android smartphones, Nielsen measured the “active reach,” the percentage of Android owners who used an app within the past 30 days, to determine which were the most popular.

Google email snafu should be fixed soon

A software bug that left a small percentage of Gmail users without access to their email for the last day or two should be fixed by the end of today according to an update on the Google Blog.

The company says it released a storage software update on February 27th that introduced an unexpected bug that caused about one in five thousand Gmail users to temporarily lose access to their email.

Gmail gets a Priority Inbox

To help Gmail users deal with a plethora of email flooding their inboxes, Google has announced that beginning next week, it will introduce Priority Inbox, an experimental new way of taking on information overload in Gmail.

In addition to sending Junk mail to the Spam filter, Gmail will now split your inbox into three sections: “Important and unread,” “Starred” and “Everything else.”
