Operating Income at Shaw Communications climbs 15%

Shaw Communications Inc., the country’s largest cable television provider, has announced its financial results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ending August 31, 2011.

The company reported consolidated revenue of $1.18 billion during the final quarter of the year, up 26% over the same period in 2010. Revenues for the entire 2011 fiscal year were $4.74 billion, up 28% from 2010.

Shaw Family buys an extra million shares of the company

Shaw Communications Inc. announced this week that the Shaw Family, and entities owned or controlled by them, completed the purchase of an additional 1,000,325 Class B Non-Voting Shares of the Company.

The Shaw Family, and entities owned or controlled by them, now holds 51,586,354 Class A and Class B shares of Shaw Communications.

Profits up 11% at Shaw

Shaw Communications Inc., the country’s second largest cable television provider, has announced its financial results for the second quarter of its fiscal year ending February 28, 2010.

The company reported that, despite trying economic conditions for Canadian consumers, service revenue and operating income were up 11% over the same period a year earlier to $929 million and $425 million respectively.

Canadian Cable Television profits soar in 2009

The CRTC has released the financial results for cable companies, Direct-to-Home (DTH) satellite distribution and Multipoint Distribution System (MDS) companies in Canada in 2009 and the numbers were staggering.

Despite the worst global downturn since the Great Depression, total revenues in the Canadian Broadcasting industry grew by $1.1 billion to reach $11.4 billion in 2009.

Operating Income at Shaw rises 29% in latest quarter

Shaw Communications Inc., the country’s second largest cable television provider, has announced its financial results for the first quarter of its fiscal year ending November 30, 2009.

The company reported that, despite the worst economic recession in seventy years, service revenue ws $906 million, up 11% over the same period a year earlier while operating income was $475 million, up a whopping 29%.

Revenues continue to climb at Cogeco

Cogeco, the nation’s fourth largest cable provider, today announced its financial results for the first quarter of its fiscal year which ended November 30, 2009.

Despite the severe recession Canadians find themselves in, Cogeco said overall revenue for the quarter increased by 6.4% from the same period a year earlier to $328 million while operating income grew 6.2% to $63.6 million.

Revenues fall 14% at Primus Canada

Primus Telecommunications Group Inc., the U.S. parent company of Primus Canada, today reported its third quarter 2009 financial results, the first since the company emerged from chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

In Canada, net revenue in the quarter decreased $9.4 million, or 14% from the same period a year earlier.

XM Canada reports $41.5 million loss

XM Canada this week reported its financial results for the fiscal year and fourth quarter ended August 31, 2009.

The firm reported that revenues for the fourth quarter and fiscal year were up 17% and 33% respectively over the same periods a year earlier, however, the company still had a net loss for the year of $41.5 million, down from $56.6 million a year earlier.
