Three new Blu-ray players coming from Pioneer

At the Cedia Expo this week, Pioneer Electronics introduced three new Blu-ray 3D players, the Pioneer BDP-140 and two Elite branded models, BDP-52FD and BDP-53FD.

Features of the new players include improved loading times, high definition audio and video playback from both USB and DLNA sources and audio and video streaming from Pandora, YouTube and NetFlix.

Flagship Onkyo BD-SP809 Blu-ray Disc Player ships in August

Onkyo has announced that its new top-of-the-line THX Certified Blu-ray Disc player will be shipping to dealers in August.

Features include 3D Blu-ray playback, support for the latest lossless audio codecs, dual HDMI outputs which allow users to switch easily between two displays, such as a main TV for casual viewing and a projector for movies and sports, and onboard Qdeo video processing technology for deinterlacing, noise-reduction, and 1080p upscaling.

Onkyo ships three new high end A/V components

Onkyo announced today that it has expanded its product line with three new high end THX Certified components including the company’s first A/V preamplifier/processor, a matching 150-watt nine-channel amplifier, and a Blu-ray Disc Player.

The network-capable Onkyo PR-SC5508 9.2-channel AV preamp/processor features a 3D-Ready HDMI-1.4a interface, HQV Reon-VX video processing, ISF Video Calibration, Audyssey MultEQ XT 32 sound correction technologies

Sales of Blu-ray players expected to top 62 million in 2011

Worldwide Blu-ray player shipments are expected to more than double between 2009 and the end of 2010 according to an ABI Research forecast released today.

The firm predicts strong growth again next year with total shipments in 2011 expected to top 62.5 million.

LG Electronics unveils 3D line-up

LG Electronics today announced the imminent arrival in stores of a suite of 3D technology products which includes its new “Infinia” LED HDTVs along with its first 3D-capable Network Blu-ray Disc player and 3D active shutter glasses.

Available in 47- and 55-inch versions, the less expensive Infinia LX 6500 series of LCD HDTVs is available now while the more expensive LX9500 series of HDTVs will be in stores later this month.

Sony’s first standalone 3D-Ready Blu-ray player ships in March

At CES in January, Sony unveiled its 2010 Blu-ray disc player line-up which included the entry level Sony BDP-S370, the mid-level BDP-S570 and the Blu-ray 3D capable BDP-S770.

Last week, the firm announced one more new Blu-ray player; the BDP-S470 which Sony says will be its first stand-alone Blu-ray 3D-ready player.

Oppo releases BDP-80 Blu-ray player

OPPO Digital, makers of highly acclaimed DVD and Blu-ray players, announced today the release of it’s new BDP-80 Blu-ray Disc player.

First announced last December, the BDP-80 is a universal Blu-ray player that supports BD Profile 2.0 (BD-Live and BonusView), DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, Super Audio CD (SACD), HDCD, CD and other popular media formats such as AVCHD, MKV video files, digital photos and music.
