Sun News among four new channels coming to Bell TV

Bell and TVA Group have signed an agreement which see four TVA Group speciality channels – TVA Sports, Sun News, Yoopa and Mlle – added to the Bell Fibe and Bell Satellite TV line-up.

The four channels are expected to be available on Bell systems by December 15, 2011.

Space HD launches July 6th

Space, the English language specialty television which features science fiction, fantasy, horror, and paranormal programming, will be available in high definition beginning Wednesday July 6th.

The Bell owned station will only be available on Bell Satellite TV on channel 1746) and Bell Fibe TV on channel 1632 because it has yet to sign any deals with other Canadian television service providers.

MuchMusic HD launches on Bell June 1st

Muchmusic HD, a high definition version of the English language digital specialty channel, will launch on June 1st.

On launch date, the Bell Media owned station will only be available on Bell’s Direct-to-Home satellite television service and its Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) service. To-date, no other cable or satellite distributors has picked up the station.

Bell raising Internet and Fibe TV prices in May

Bell Canada this month has informed its Internet and Fibe TV customers in Ontario that they can expect a monthly fee increase $3 per month beginning in May.

Meanwhile, customers in Quebec will face monthly fee increases of between $1 and $3 per month starting next month.

Average Bell TV subscriber spends $75 a month

The average Bell television customer spent $74.79 a month on television services in the fourth quarter of 2010, up 5.2% from $71.12 in the same quarter of 2009 according to figures from Bell’s recent financial statements.

Bell Canada slapped with $1.3 million fine for violating DNCL Rules

The CRTC announced today that Bell Canada has paid a $1.3 million penalty for violating the National Do Not Call List Rules.

The government found that between January and October of this year, call centres acting on behalf of Bell Canada solicited consumers who had registered their numbers on the National Do Not Call List (DNCL) or who were or should have been on Bell Canada’s internal do not call list.

Sex Shop TV’s Vanessa now on

Vanessa, a Montreal based French language adult pay television channel which went live on October 28th, announced this week on its twitter feed http://twitter.com/Van3ssaTV that the station will be part of the Cogeco, Videotron, and Bell Satellite TV line-up by the end of this week.

The station is the brainchild of Anne-Marie Losique, a French television host and producer whose stated goal is to produce a Canadian version of the Playboy Channel.

Bell Satellite TV drops HDNet

In the information section of its Electronic Program Guide Bell Satellite TV (BSTV) is telling customers that, effective December 7th, it will no longer offer HDNet.

Bell has not given any reason for dropping the popular high definition channel, however, HDNet representatives tell Digital Home readers the decision came after Bell told the station that it would be moving HDNet to a less desirable theme pack, a move the station did not want
