I've had no reception issues with my 1250, so I guess that's why :p
(It's noticeably better than my 950-old, and about the same as the tuner in my Samsung T240HD)

That's exactly what I do with mine. I use the extension and hang it over the cables at the back so that the fan vents on it. It's warm air, but it still cools it better than still air.
