Has Space Channel Removed Star Trek?
I have been searching for Star Trek TNG and Voyager this week and part of next week on the Space Channel (Bell 1746) and I can't find it.
Has the Space Channel stopped airing Star Trek?

Exhile 2016-03-04 06:47 PM

yup, no more Voyager or TNG.

Sometimes I wonder about that channel. I don't really see any si-fi shows on there. I miss all my old star trek and TNG shows, will the original anyways, that stations used to be good but its gone downhill.

The only thing still going on that channel is Stargate SG1. I can't complain, I still like watching that show lol!

They do still have some shows, but they're pretty much all off season right now, so lots of reruns. The shows they do have tend to be short seasons lasting only 2-3 months. Seems like they would be ideal for a streaming service, which is naturally why few of them are on one.

bell moved star trek to crave tv

All the Star Trek series are available on CraveTV. TV rights and streaming rights are negotiated separately, usually for a specific length of time, so it's possible that the TV rights for Space have expired. On the other hand, Space may just be giving the series a rest while it airs other content.

If Space stopped airing all the Star Trek series at the end of the month, it probably means their TV rights have expired.

Star Trek and Space Channel
I just received an e-mail from the people to whom I sent an e-mail last Fall regarding the Space channel removing Star trek from their schedule.

Just wanted to follow up and tell you we are happy to announce that all episodes of the STAR TREK television library – STAR TREK: THE ORIGINAL SERIES, STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION, STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE, STAR TREK: VOYAGER, and STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE – will be returning to Space this September!

You may want to confirm this but I suspect it's true.
I'm betting that they got a lot of complaints about a "space" channel not having very many space-related programming.

I thought I would update this thread. Space started showing season 1 of The Original Series, The Next Generation and Voyager weekdays earlier this week.

All seasons of all Star Trek series are also available on CraveTV.

I guess they got more than a few complaints.
Nice that someone is listening to their clients for once.

Gilles 2016-09-08 07:34 PM

I'd imagine they're also trying to create interest in the new show in January.

Here is CBS' "master press release" for Star Trek from July 18. (They also issued individual joint press releases with Netflix and with Bell Media.)

Star Trek International Broadcasters Set for New Star Trek Series

It sounds like CBS coordinated the timing around the launch of Discovery and tied the contract negotiations for the old series to that. Netflix was probably the big fish and Bell Media in Canada had very little control of the timing.

My guess is the contract took effect in September and will probably run for several years. They don't usually disclose the length of these types of contracts.
