Videotron now has over 210,000 wireless customers
Videotron is quickly becoming a force in wireless services with the announcement today that it now has more than 210,000 customers for its mobile services.
While reporting its quarterly results today, the company said it recorded the strongest growth ever for mobile services during the second quarter, adding more than 3,500 new customers per week.
The quarterly increase of 52,700 subscribers was up 75% from the 30,100-unit increase recorded in the same quarter of 2010.
With the roll-out to the Saguenay-Lac Saint-Jean and Ottawa/Outaouais regions in the second quarter, Videotron's wireless services are now available to more than six million people across Quebec and eastern Ontario.
I was a bit weary at first to switch to them, but their service is excellent
have missed no emails, just a few phone calls a few areas in my basement the calls are garbled but I just move over to a sweet area and all is fine, or when inside a ship with lots of steel walls, I miss the call, but get a message alert so thats ok. for a minimal extra 10.00 per month, I get free long distance from Saguenay to Ottawa, which is the range of 90% of my LDistance call, I am saving a heck of a lot, I used to have bills of 400 - 500 a month in LD during my busy months. my wallet is very happy right now!
weary (tired) or wary (cautious)? :)
Sounds like Videotron's becoming a good alternative for Quebecers.
I'd sure like to see Videotron and Wind have full roaming reciprocity on each other's networks. It seems like a no-brainer since, aside from Ottawa-Gatineau, they have no overlap at all in their service areas.
Probably because they invested lot`s of $$ to get to this point.
Unfortunately it seems this is being done to the detriment of the TV business. They are possibly lowering investments in improving their competitiveness in the TV area where they are miles behind Bell for functionality and ease of use.
As examples: like having decent pvr software that records only new events or a 30 sec skip button that works etc...
I have switched from Telus to their Mobile service. To tell you the truth their coverage is not that great alot of dead zones and not just in basements either. I've been in different areas of Montreal and do not get coverage and it is due to the AWS spectrum that they use. It does not penetrate well through walls.
I hope in the next auction Wind is able to buy spectrum in Quebec and truly offer unlimited plans unlike what Videotron is offering.
New user since December 31st here in Gatineau/Ottawa and so far so good. No missed calls whatsoever. Pretty decent 3G speed (waiting for software upgrade from Android to have 4G). It covers the areas I most visit being Ottawa/Gatineau and Montreal. You roam onto Rogers network when out of coverage. The only downside is that you only get voice outside of Videotron's coverage but it should not bother me one bit except for the week I spend in Gaspésie every year/second year. I can live with that.
The price is hard to beat on the package I got.
Special holiday promotion of $39.95 a month (includes Network and 911 fees, taxes extra) with $0 Nexus S on a 3 year plan.
500 MB Data plan
100 minutes with Unlimited nights and weekends
Unlimited texts, emails and photos sent via email/text
