any idea when the ch. 65 ciii transmitter is going to be shut down?

james039 2011-08-31 12:35 AM

I think it has to be turned off no later than tomorrow night at 12am.

DavidT 2011-08-31 12:39 AM

Let's just say August 31st at 11:59pm to avoid confusion :P

RottieGirl 2011-08-31 12:50 AM

From how I read things, wouldn't it be midnight tonight? That'll make it Aug.31st. Midnight tomorrow, would make it Sept. 1st.

Good DTV Mornin!

Pick up 6.1 (Paris) This morning for the first time. Not sure if Tropo because I also pick up Fox 2.1 from Detroit area. Don't usually pick that up. I guess time will tell.

Fox Detroit actually transmits on channel 7 (VHF-hi) whereas Global Paris is VHF-lo. Tropo tends to affect VHF-hi and UHF moreso than low-band.

Thanks for the info, makes sense. ...Fox 7 @2.1 has gone away. Was seeing some other US channels that are gone too...but still no Global (6.1)

robman50 2011-08-31 06:15 PM

an example would be you had analog ch. 41 (toronto) on and you watched the national then local newscast. then your picture would disappear and you would see fuzz and hear a sound kind of like your near a waterfalls. then it's bye-bye analog. :)
i would think thats how it would work. :D

When will 27 do the switch?

Brightonian 2011-08-31 11:59 PM

Can the stations operate at their post transitional powers before midnight?

bigoranget 2011-09-01 12:08 AM

yes, most are doing that already.

scruffy416 2011-09-01 01:05 AM

Looks like Global Toronto has turned off the old Transition RF65 Digital signal as of about midnight.

Scarborough 2011-09-01 01:05 AM

Just caught the last seconds of 65-1 shutting off seconds after midnight. It was kind of funny that they were so anal about shutting it off so close to the deadline.
