RuralRouter | Split decision on the "Call Back" feature. On the negative side, I would have to stick by the landline (no cell) until they called. On the plus side, I could watch TV or do other things until the phone rang. On the whole, I liked the old "Call Back" feature. |

tvmaster | Yes, the fact this company sells shares and provides customer service this bad should be examined by govt. regulators... |

Jocasta1 | I finally got through to a CSR after being on hold for over 2 hours. It doesn't seem that long ago I could get through in a few minutes or they would call back when a rep was ready, usually within 15 minutes. |

Jocasta1 | What happened to the call back feature when trying talk to a customer service rep? I was on hold for an hour and then just got cut off. I've now been on hold for more than an hour and no one has picked up yet. Very frustrating. |

Yes, all looked good this week. Unfortunately, it is not NTV that changes their schedule as often as Global Halifax. Global Halifax shows the odd 7 pm change in program most weeks . This week, I don't think they did. BUT... Check the guide for Tuesday February 5th and Thursday February 7th and you will see E.T.Canada is on Global and the regular E.T. is on NTV. That will be a test for next week. |

@NovaMan
- how did your programming look last night? Shaw Broadcast monitored and have reported: *All times in Eastern time zone 18:00 NTV (CJON) and Global Halifax both had E.T. and there was a substitution. 18:30 NTV(CJON) had Jeopardy and Global Halifax had E.T. and there was no substitution 19:00 NTV(CJON) and Global Halifax both had Chicago PD and there was no substitution 20:00 NTV(CJON) and Global Halifax both had Celebrity Big Brother and there was a substitution. I guess since NTV is independent, they are notorious for changing their programming last minute (based on the most popular shows) and aren't the best at updating their Guide information to reflect as such (which would cause our sub to be incorrect). Broadcast was all over them in April with similar concerns. |

@LONSat
is correct - City and Global both have (albeit, different between the two) broader substitutions for us. Atlantic and Quebec are a bit of an anomaly as the rest of the country would see Detroit substituted with Citytv Toronto. The same goes for watching Seattle networks - it'll be substituted with Vancouver. It may or may not make you feel better, but that substitution would be the reason the Atlantic provinces receive a Citytv feed by default. |

LONSat | @NovaMan I believe that the broadcaster can request the simsub for a broader/more distant location if there is no local alternative but it is up to the discretion of the BDU to implement it. |

Last week it did say Chicago Med, 7pm on Global and Chicago Med, 8pm on NTV. This week our grid is showing Entertainment Tonight on both channels at the same time. While we are on the topic: Atlantic Canada has NO CITY channels, none; however SD always sim-subs CITY (Montreal , I think) over any big US network program. Is this not a violation of the CRTC rules? |

I'll ask the SBS team to take a look at the substitutions - my grid is showing that the programming lines up between the two channels for the evening starting at 6 pm ET (exception is Jeopardy on NTV at 6:30 pm ET), but it's possible Global replaced programming and didn't update their data so it's become an incorrect substitution. Did you happen to notice whether the grid for Global Halifax said it was Chicago Med? On the overall substitution, for Global content, yes (providing you're closer to Halifax). |

tvmaster | No, they shouldn’t, if the programs aren’t the same show, AND same episode. We used to do subs MANUALLY back in the day at Rogers Cable, but I fear today automation is in play, when maybe it shouldn’t be.... |

I noticed a sim-sub error Shaw Direct made last week. My wife likes to watch "Entertainment Tonight" on Global, at 7pm Atlantic, on Global Halifax. On Wednesday Global Halifax puts "Chicago Med" on at 7pm instead of the regular "Entertainment Tonight" program. So we changed the channel to NTV, which was showing the ET program, and you guessed it, SD sim-subbed Chicago Med over ET on NTV. I have noticed this happening a few times. Should Shaw Direct even be sim-subbing Global Halifax over Newfoundland TV? |

It's funny, I've been on here for years, just in the background. It's a daily morning ritual to check the forums and address anything I could (incorrect logos, free previews, report outages, etc.). I've always refrained from posting at the direction of an old leader who was given a hard time back in the day (think 630 launch era) when providing support, though I don't know much of what happened there! EDIT: Just wanted to say, don't let me get in the way of your usual discussions. Will only chime in where I can. |
