disco277 Agreed... it was good, but I honestly was expecting more.

None the less it still left me depressed that BSG is over.

dosborne BSG - The Plan

Interesting. I enjoyed it, but it seemed like 2 hours of "deleted scenes" rather than a movie/show. It filled in numerous "blanks" though for me.

We just finished the last episode late last night - captures series 4.0 and 4.5, and watched them in the space of about two weeks.

Overall, seeing all the episodes one right after the other was much better for those of us without photographic memory ( ).

The ending - as long as you didn't go into it with specific expectations, was amazing. Very, very many times they have taken this series in unexpected directions that were clear only in hindsight. The ending was another unexpected solution, and it's impact is amazing if you appreciate it for what it was, rather than for what you were expecting.

Some of the best true scifi action in history, IMHO, during the last episode. And an excellent ending that wraps up the story of the Battlestar Galactica universe.

It was a great and imaginative ending to an amazing series!

wprager Check out the Terminator, Lost and Fringe boards. The complaining here is valid.

It is natural for those that are angry to find a way to speak up about it. Those that are happy don't go around look for places/ways to "vent" their frustrations or find validation in others.

polaris Most events and endings in the last ep I thought made sense. Not everything is going to lead to some fast action shoot em up scene. The relgious angle was pretty heavy thoughout the series so you have to consider that when you wonder what happened to Kara. She was essentially sent back by 'god' to finish her work. What didnt make sense to me was how Adama and his son parted ways. I guess they could have met up again in the future...

wgauci There was no way to please everyone with the final episode. It had some strong points and some weak points, much like the last few seasons. The problem is that we get so invested in these things that I think we expect all to come to a neat and tidy ending. To me at least, they would have needed a 5 hour finally to close off everything.

I watched the special they aired before the show and it was obvious from watching that there were a few plot lines where they were flying by the seat of their pants and making it up as they went along. I don't think they had a completely hashed out story ark from the beginning and as a result a few of them had to be snipped somewhat unsatisfactoraly(sp?).

Overall, I enjoyed it, with the last few seasons being spread out so much, I wasn't that tuned into the entire story, when I buy the rest of the series and watch them back to back I might be a little more dissapointed in the ending.

Sorry, I don't have any. I was simply browsing around and linking from forum to forum and don't remember all the sites I ended up at (they weren't SciFi though).

Many on this forum seemed to enjoy it, including me

gbamber I loved the finale.

jumpy27 Can you give me some links to forums where people think it was great? I just googled "battlestar final great forum" and got no results. Googling "BSG finale sucked" gave me several forums. The only positive forum was on the Sci-Fi website, and according to other forums, they were deleting some negative posts and moving other posts around. Sci-Fi also had a poll which showed that roughly 65% gave the final show a score of 8 out of 10, or higher--which I find really hard to believe. But I guess as you say, you either loved it or you hated it. I found the more I read the negative forums, my dislike for the final hour increased. Maybe I should read more of the positive forums so I can become neutral!

dosborne There are just as many sites that seem to feel it was a great episode. Like many things, either you loved it, or you hated it. It seems pretty even to me.

jumpy27 I've been reading some of the Battlestar forums and it seems that many of the diehard fans hate the ending and are very disappointed in the writers. Check this article to see if you agree with any of the ideas presented:

macemuscle Yeah that's what I meant by pilling on in my last post... they've really built up Kara's character and failed to deliver on the ending. Either they ran out of time or imagination... so she just disappears... booooo!

jumpy27 I thought the first hour was great, but the second hour was weak and full of propaganda. It disappointed me like Seinfeld's final episode.

The last straw was when Kara Thrace just "disappeared". Where did she go? Was she real or did everyone just imagine her presence?

I believe the idea was that she was the cause for the death of the "old" human race and technology giving brith to the "new" hybrid human/cylon race. I agree that this was a bit weak and certainly not what I was thinking as it was played up quite a bit this season.
