As bad as 115 looks on Illico, seeing nothing on channel 12 on analog cable is just plain unacceptable.

what bothered me was...
I don't care so much that they took away PeachTree. Although it was part of my 30, I rarely watched it.
I am disappointed that they gave no advance notice.
I am disappointed that they did not obtain another English channel to replace it (it could have had different content, even).
Their reply to my complaint email made me feel that they missed those two points completely.

While their channel line up is "decent", there is one thing I will never fuss about with Videotron. CUSTOMER SERVICE, take for example. Sympatico, you call technical support and you end up with "joe blow" in another country who is simply reading from a script, you need to talk to the person for about 30 some odd minutes for them to figure out that oh yes...something really is wrong with your line.
Videotron: after being on hold, boom a REAL PERSON who lives in Quebec quickly punches up your account to see what is wrong...I got them to send a tech in 5 minutes FLAT (well the tech came 2 days later, but I didn't have to talk to some person reading off a script for 30 minutes making me do DUMB THINGS when it was "their end" that was broken).
Videotron not out sourcing their technical support = PRICELESS, I'm not switching JUST FOR THAT REASON. Well done on that Videotron...but I still want Channel 115 Peachtree TV back

Peachtree was a crappy channel anyway. I dropped it to get MovieTime when it came available (perhaps adding to why it was dropped from the lineup altogether!).
I hope Videotron does offer more HD channels soon, but I'm willing to wait after looking at the alternatives.
Long story short; Videotron offers good service in English and a reasonable English language lineup while having better packages than satellite.

Thats what i call second class customer service
As far as i know Videotron main market is french people so its normal that they deliver what the majority of their customer want. I read on another forum that VIdeotron dropped Peachtree because they didnt get enough susbcriber vs the cost off that channel.
If you take a look on french forum of Starchoice and BellTV here you will see that these two company wich there main market is english people they add many french HD channels way later then Videotron. Why? because they will add english new channel first because they will get more subscriber.
Offers and demands rules, simple as that

id switch in a second to bell but my apartment doesnt face the right direction...and VD Net (bell fiber) isnt available in my building yet...

Here's my opinion.
when it comes to english channel selection, Videotron is much better than it used to be, before digital cable. Bell has a few more HD channels, but the packaging was quite expensive. Videotron offers quite a good mix of french and english channels, if you speak both languages. Bell has Fox news, Videotron has MSNBC. Bell has tons of local stations that repeat the same programming on different time zone. But now with PVRs that can record two different shows, while you watch a third one recorded, there is not much needs for 5 time zones. Videotron has two time zones. and with videotron i have four tvs with cable. When I was with bell, i had to watch the same thing on two tvs. The service with Bell was closed on sundays, and at night. Videotron is open like all the time. Wet snow and ice was a problem with Bell.
Basically both have advantages, both have faults, costs are comparable. I don't think Videotron hates anglos like you make it sound. I go to the states pretty often, and it's not the greatest selection. And with Videotron, you can select channels a la carte, which you cannot do with Bell.

To each his own but for me even if CS rates a 1 out of 10, the other factors far out-weigh poor service especially if I rarely need CS. In the last 4 years I've been with Videotron I think I called them once. So I have to compare hundreds (if not thousands) of hours using their services to a few hours with CS over multiple years.
Everyone has their own decision making process and tolerance levels.

I have a personal story of horror from Bell (and several of my friends also do).
Switching phone service from Bell to Videotron led to a lot of things, such as them saying "Okay we're releasing your number" then Videotron telling me "They refuse to release the number" to a bunch of stuff like that. Then they charged us an extra month out of the blue, which took over 3 months to resolve with them.
A friend of mine still randomly gets charges from Bell even though he hasn't been with them for 2 years... It's not the Vista effect.
