rickyb | You also have a better chance of getting a Falcon if the side of the box says "Team FDOU" and the lot number is 737 or higher. It seems like most of the Canadian stores have "Team CSON". Some CSON's have been found to be Falcon's but it seems FDOU has better odds. |

Strikes me funny. If everyone is returning their xbox360's cuz it isn't a Falcon ... what's the stores going to do with all those returns? Also... if there's a problem, the console has to be returned to Microsoft, not the store where you bought it from and they just send you a refurbished one that's probably older and will give out in a few weeks. So it's best to check for Falcon before you buy by looking at the team number and the manufacturing date... you just can't do the flashlight thing. |

Anteater | It's not an elite, but I just bought a Premium/"Go Pro" holiday bundle that came with Forza Motorsport 2 and Marvel Utlimate Alliance and unfortunately it has a Hitachi drive and a manufacturing date of some time in July. |

Also keep in mind that it's the GPU that is causing the RROD failure, not the CPU. So even though the CPU may be using a smaller dye size, it may not do anything for the RROD because the GPU isn't being changed in that revision. MS had said that the GPU won't change til next round of hardware modifications. Cal |

i got an elite about 1 week ago at FS as a holiday bundle. it was ringing red so I exchanged it. how can I tell if I have a benq drive and falcon?
Wow, the Elite does not sound all that reliable either. M$ is shooting themselves in the foot by not ensuring there's good quality control beforehand. Guess that's why they upped the warranty to 3 yrs!? As for the Falcon chip ... only way to know is to open up the console and look. For the Benq drive ... it's just a matter of opening the dvd tray and based on the shape (links have been posted here already). Do you know if you have a Benq drive? As for the Falcon chip ... I guess I'll have to take my chance. Hope this helps. Petee C ... Good one! The pics are property of the WWW.LLAMA.COM web-site. They wouldn't be on your dvd tray. |

This is how you can determine which DVD drive you have. http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/Xbox_3...Comparison.htm |

We've got a 360 from the second batch post launch and it has been chugging along without an issue for close to two years now. The 360 inventory moves pretty quickly so if you buy one now it's likely to have been built within the last few months. |

The carrier tray for the BENQ was different than the Hitachi. The differences were visible simply by having the tray open to accept a disc. There were some pictures on the web that you can probably find. |
