|MikeDRiley||On Lake Chapala... nothing has changed status-wise yet for me. No new channel map yet. In fact, CBC News was supposed to go HD today, and I haven't seen it happen yet. Reception is still normal.|

|Bayguy||Canucktraveler what do you want to know about southern reception? Things are still changing a couple days ago we got the new channel map and lost some stuff but some of it will be back in a few days when the chans move to a different bird. The list LONsat made is VERY helpful.|

LONSat, thanks for your work on this, very helpful. Just a question on the audio channels in the 900 range, will we be getting those, very nice at Xmas time.

Southern Provinces xKu lnb value?
Is there an advantage to converting to the new LNB since the new satellite coverage doesn't extend this far south? I don't seem to be missing any channels of note using the old LNB and map status 4322.

The Quad LNB will have the benefit of limiting your simsubs to only those channels on F1R and F2. Not changing to the xLNB may set you for multi calls/emails/contact to update to the new LNB to be able to receive signals from G1 and they may ask why.
Possible reasons to give: your landlord allowed the dish to be installed but is reluctant to have anymore service techs on site and you don't want to rock the boat and that you are ok with the channels you can receive.

Southern Provinces LNB options
Is it better to stay with the quad LNB or switch to the new X lnb given that the signal from the new satellite doesn't reach this far south?

Bayguy, Thanks,...I don't do that i.e. hook up internet to our receivers in Canada or anywhere else, never had to call in since Shaw Direct stopped supporting the "HOME AWAY FROM HOME" program but if I had to I would use my Skype phone system to talk to them Outside of the country....if I had to, only if I had to talk to them!
The takeaway from my message is be careful talking to Shaw Direct if all your receivers are not with you, some leave some of their receivers in two different locations....not a great idea...if they ask you to give info on any one of them...depending on the Shaw Direct Tech could be a real problem....just saying....

|Canucktraveller||RuralRouter....my message might not have been clear I meant to say, Yes, all receivers are in the same location here in Canada when I sent the email and subsequently got Shaw Direct's call....they are here for now, would the Shaw tech test me on that....you never know, the tech did not test me and I offered to go to another receiver and did, would he ask...I don't know but I would not want to be put in that situation ...could be rather embrassing.|

|Canucktraveller||RuralRouter, no all receivers are in one location,.....for now.....in my email I intentionally put the location in my (Canadian) house along with their ID's as I heard that back in the Bell Satellite days they (Bell) would call to check via ID's to ensure that the receivers were all in one place and I didn't want to get in a mess that way, anyway I think all is good and the take away here is that anyone can call in now and get their receiver(s) put on the new numbering scheme and one can get used to it early....if one wants to...I did....kinda slow you know...LOL|

Canucktraveller, Do you have all 5 receivers at one location or some in another location?
Since the Shaw rep said he would fix the problem, you are probably worry-free. Call Shaw and tell the rep what the previous rep said and did. The first rep may have had some finger problems with their computer.
When you said "Shaw has it all set up....happy! ", does that mean you have no problems now?

|Canucktraveller||Oh, to add to my message, I was impressed with Shaw Direct in that all my programs that I had set up to record was on the new channels, like I love BNN on 491 (old) there it was on channel 257 all recorded and ready to watch so no need folks to re-program, Shaw has it all set up....happy!|

I put this submission below on this forum a few days ago, since I got no response I assumed that no else had such an experience on their receivers as I did so I will tell you what happened with my experience:
As you all must know by now if you on your receiver push the satellite button, go to Guide, go to channel 988 it will tell you IF you are all set for the new HD channels from the G1 satellite. So I did just that and I got the expression "Please call us regarding your account" on three of my HDDSR600's but one HDDSR600 and my HDDPVRG630 was ok i.e. ready to go so I sent in a email telling Shaw Direct the location in our house of each receiver, the ID of each and the version of software on each receiver, the version was all the same, I did this on an email as I didn't want to verbally talk to a rep from Shaw Direct in case they questioned if I use the receivers south of the USA/Canadian Border.
So Shaw Direct called anyway and first thing was the Shaw Direct caller said we know you have two dishes equipped with LNB's and your account was previously part of the former "HOME AWAY FROM HOME" group than they questioned do I use the system in the USA as it is not to be used there, I said I KNEW that IT WAS NOT TO BE USED IN THE USA as per Shaw Direct's practices.
Than the Shaw caller said he would bring the three non compliant receivers into the same mode as the other two. I asked when the NEW channel numbers would be all in place, he said shortly, late September or early October. Than I asked if he could put the changes thru now, he said he could if I wanted and he did this as I thought at least I could get used to it and I told him someone gave me the new list of channels so I was ok to find the new channels from the old existing ones.
So now I have all the final channels on all my four receivers and my HDDPVRG630 I thought it best to put them into effect now so I could get used to them early.
Here was my previous submission;

I have a HDDPVR630 and 4 HDDSR6OO's and if one goes to the Guide to channel 988 with the PVR I get "no action required" and same with one other HDDSR600 but the other 3 HDDSR600's give me "Please call us regarding your account" all receivers have version V56.05 and I refreshed all of them several times, any ideas what's up before I call Shaw?...don't want to stir anything up if no need.....thanks!"
