then they should try to challenge it though some sort of anti-monopoly laws.

kmacp I think with regards to the repeating of shows, they honestly don't expect the same person to be watching all day long. Much like repetitive news channels. So they figure the person who tunes in to watch MTV Live at 4am isn't the same person tuning in at 12pm. Silly, I know... but with 70% cancon they don't have much of a choice.
According to the licence that someone posted a few pages back it looks like TalkTV's licence was only renewed a year or two ago. Chances are they won't try to appeal to the CRTC until their renewal date comes up.... especially with CHUM breathing down their necks.

I've run into a problem MTV and my PVR however. They're airing many shows as 1/2 hour back to back new episodes. e.g. Sweet Sixteen @ 12P on Saturday and 1230P on Saturday. I each to record all episodes "in this time slot". However it seems to only keep the one on the 1/2 hour when I check back? I don't want to select all episodes at any time since they in 3 - 5 time slots per week and they will most likely conflict with other recordings at this time. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there any way to fix it aside from setting manual recordings?

TJ77 I suspect that CTV will ask to have category 8 programs added (8a-music and dance other than 8b or 8c, 8b-music video clips, 8c-music video programs) I think 10-15% would be fair and uncomptetitive with Chum.I did some looking and theres lots of other channels that are allowed to air music videos that currently don't. (CTV Travel,BBC Kids,BBC Canada to name a few)

By the way MTV will premiere the new trash talking show "Yo Momma" with Wilmer Valderrama on Monday April 3 at 7pm.One hour after the premiere in the US.(Atleast according to several online program grids)

satellite I would guess that would be their intention.

Its likely CHUM/MuchMusic would fight it every step of the way.

CorSter any chance of CTV applying for a license change for MTV, so they can air some MTV programming? MTV has one show that I like in the US, and of course it's not available here.

TJ77 There actually is a program grid on overdrive under the on air tab (or something to that nature) and I guess your not watching at the right time because I've seen commercials for The Real World, The Gauntlet,8th and Ocean, Meet the Barkers,There and Back,The Shop,Pimp My ride,Super Sweet 16,The Shop,Laguna Beach and Live
As for Canadian Content they have made Canadian episodes of Diary,Cribs and True Life and it does take money to make programs.Talktv wasn't exactly a rich station so it will take time. As far as the site goes I don't see any other network offering that amount of free high quality video.

I'm not home through the day so the endless repeats don't really bother me. The MTV US schedule also contains alot of repeats. All the of reality shows probably get 20+ airings per week. Remember to keep in mind that MTV has to have about 70% Canadian Content and they are pretty much maxed out at the level of US content.

I understand that but a three hour run of MTV live is just a bit over the top. I don't see MTV saying long in this country either that or it's just going to keep going down the crapper like it has been. Yes I like some of the content but finding out when stuff is on is almost impossible. There is no program grid on MTV.ca and as far as I've seen they plug the shows on MTV live but don't tell us what time they are on. I don't think I've seen one commercial about The Real World or The Gauntlet at all. They have really given Cop-out excuses for what's going on with the web site. Come on the site should have been fully developed before the launch and not still in the process.

They knew that they needed to have 70% Canadian Content and basically All I see is about 2 shows that actually are since I don't count MTV Live Hacked as a show since it's nothing but an MTV Live repeat with a chat room on the screen. I've still yet to figure out were the hell the chat room is on the site and none of the MODs will answer your questions on MSN. Really so if they need to air 70% Canadian Content then why were more shows not developed in the first place?

It's true I'd rather watch MTV than Vicki Gabereau all day but come on this had really ticked me off. MTV Canada looks as if they put about 10 minutes of thought into it and has no organization put into it what so ever.

I agree but its the 24/7 reruns of it that are doing my head in we get MTV live then MTV Live hacked which is just MTV Live with a chat room on the screen and then a half hour of E2 and then MTV Live again and how about the two days of Laguna Beach we got over the weekend. Would it not have been better for then to acquire a few back seasons of other shows to air to fill in the gaps here and there surely that would have been the smartest choice but I almost certain that the Big Wigs at CTV are all brain dead any ways they seem to actually think that Canadian Idol is a success LOL! that just goes to show ya what they deam quality.

Anything is better than Vicki Gabarou (spelling) Television. lol

Just think though they basically took whereever they had Vicki on and put MTV live to meet the Canadian Content rules, but its still better than Talk TV!

reidster does anybody know if Persona will be adding MTV to its regular cable lineup? I've been watching some MTV LIve's that aired on CTV and the real world and they seemed good. I want to watch more.
