Zank Frappa I think the LG and Samsung models with the new dual tuner come in well over $10,000, LG don't include it until you hit the "G" series OLED's.

Wasn't really impressed by this years offerings at CES, they showed that Rollable gimmick tv last year ($60,000), 8k 5g is a nice idea, but without content (besides some youtube stuff) it's not likely to catch on at the consumer level until prices hit the sub $2000 range, which looks like it'll be a long while.

OLED's on the other hand will get considerably cheaper with more competition but these aren't great if you use the panel for gaming or as a pc monitor as they still retain image (burn in).

As I noted above, Foxconn, the largest contract manufacturer of panels shelved their 8k 5g plans for Wisconsin. I read one article which a manufacturers rep stated consumers had a very hard time discerning the difference between an 8k image and a 4k image unless really close up on a 70"+ display, so this will take some time before adoption, probably 5-7 years.

I think the ATSC 3.0 standards offers the consumer the greatest improvement (4k, content on demand, etc) but most of the media companies championing this are hoping the cell phone manufacturers adopt it and that will be a hard sell as most cell phone retailers (phone companies) don't want to include something that offers content offline for free, this would bite into their data sales.

I was expecting to see lots of ATSC 3.0 dongles and gateways this year but it didn't happen. Besides Geniatech showing off the A683 dongle (still awaiting pricing info from them) the only other one was the already a year old Airwavz model (over $1000) intended for broadcasters testing. Saankyha and a few others showcased products but they are manufacturers of the chips, not likely to be big in the consumer field as they'll sell chips to builders, this goes for NXP as well.

Sinclair broadcasting plan for 40 markets to offer ATSC 3.0 content this year, that seems pretty ambitious given the lack of hardware available for consumer reception/adoption.

Smokin Joe Here is another video from CES last week explaining ATSC 3.0 with set top box. Looks good, I probably won’t buy a tv going forward without ATSC 3.0 onboard. Samsung and a some select LG models will have it this year.

Zank Frappa Nice updates, how's that new $4.5 Billion tax payer subsidized FoxConn "10.5" panel factory coming along?

OOOOPS, no one in Vegas wants to talk about that.
