I like buying at 2001 Audio/Video in general because of the very fair pricing with many nice deals around black Friday and Christmas season. You can get many times better deals than BestBuy offers. I would say that in general the customer service for me has been excellent though there have been the odd time that service could have have been better but sometimes it's due to lack of proper training or a personality conflict.
I would not hesitate to bring my business to 2001 Audio/Video as I am a very satisfied customer.

Review: 2001 Audio/Video, Please Read Post 1
I recently bought a set of speakers (last Sunday) at the Brampton location (Great Lakes) after testing/returning a pair from another retailer. However, I almost walked out the door when another sales rep arrogantly decided to come over and lower the volume on the receiver we were using to test the speakers! I quickly asked if he needed to leave the building (he ignored me and walked away) while I was trying to determine if I wanted to buy the speakers. Kulwinder (the good sales rep) turned the volume back up and we tested a couple different speaker brands. The other sales rep moved to the end of the counter and sulked while pulling things from the back of his pants. Incredible! Later, I overheard his pompous and arrogant tone while he tried to use his basic tech knowledge to try and con a couple into buying a TV. The speakers I took home from the other retailer crapped out at higher volumes and I didn't want to waste my time and not properly test them.
At the end, I did buy a nice pair of Klipsch speakers here and got a great price, but for a moment I was ready to walk. The arrogance and dimwitted move of the other rep almost cost his Kulwinder a nice sale. If I was the store manager, I would have pulled the other rep aside and said, "Do that again and you're toast."

Don't buy from 2001 audio video
I purchased my dream TV.. 60" Samsung Plasma 3D TV... for $1400.00 + $400.00 for extended warranty. AT the store they told me the warranty covered ANYTHING.. falling off the all, getting soaked by water and we both laughed. I had the TV for 14 months and my wife called me in tears at work and said the kids were watching the TV and the TV has two cracks in it and wont' turn on. I came home to investigate and we ended up blaming our 18 month old boy for throwing his bottle at the TV. It had 2 cracks in it so we assumed that's what must have happened. Not sure how he could nail the TV twice but what else could have happened. We went to 2001 audio video and they said "physical damage" nothing they can do.
So I purchased the 60" TV Samsung again (not 3D Version for $1000.00)... we went home hooked it up and 7 days later I was watching the hockey game and poof the screen flashed and 2 cracks in the screen. I was so angry I got on the phone with 2001 audio video and they said "it's under warranty by Samsung still nothing they can do" <-- sound familiar... nothing they can do.
I contacted Samsung and after 2 months of yelling and screaming and posting on their facebook and twitter accounts they finally agreed to fix the TV. When the company came to repair it they looked at our other - original - broken 60" plasma and said that it looks like the screws were tightened too much inside or something like that but its' not physical damage because there is nothing wrong to the outside of the screen.
I got in touch with 2001 audio video and explained this and after 3 weeks they decided ... you guessed it ... there's nothing they can do! No replacement!
So please don't EVER purchase ANYTHING from them! EVER!!!!

|Vinyl Guy||I have shopped there with a friend, buying a Plasma TV at the Burlington location. Price was right, service was fine...nothing special, but fine. I see such chain stores for what they are, a place to get a deal & only one notch above Future Shop et. al.|

Prices seem OK by the daily full page ads which must cost a bundle for them, but except for Christmas rush and Boxing Day, any other time I go in there, the stores are empty or only one other customer, never have seen them ring anything up. And I still see new stores opening up once in a while to serve nobody.|

Nothing but upselling when I knew what I wanted to buy already. The clerk at the checkout insisted I had to show my driver's license to pay $1000 on Master Card. According to their sign this was "for your protection"
Never going back.

2001 Audio Video Orangeville - Service Plans
We purchased a $600.00 received approx 10 months ago including a 3 yr service plan for an addition $200.00. Received died over 2 months ago. Returned to the Orangeville Store - advised it would be 2 weeks. We are now into 10 weeks (over 2 months). We have lied to and have been treated very rudely. We have purchased many items from this store. We have escalated this to Yamaha and 2001 Audio Video Customer Service. In the meantime we have purchased a new received as we had no use of our new 52" screen tv unless we did. Still no receiver, and no compensation and nothing from the Orangeville store. I would never purchase a single item from this store again nor their service plans they dont honour. We shouldve been given a new receiver long before now!

Negative experience with 2001
I was looking for a 26 inch LG LCD. On thier website they have it listed for $399.99.
I call ahead to make sure it is in stock at the store I planned on going to. It seems they are all out of ti and only have floor models. No problem, I'll buy a floor model I think to myself and I ask which stores have the floor model for sale.
The guy at the Woodbine store then tells me to go to the new store as it shows on his computer that hey have it. I drive from yonge and Sheppard to Kennedy and Markahm road, quite the trek on my lunch.
Turns out the new store is not even open!
I call the Woodbine store adn tell the manager who then tells me it's my fault for not confirming that the new store was open before driving there.
I will never buy anything from them again. A simple apology would have been great, but to try and make me feel like I made the mistake was too much.

I just wanted to share my story. I went to the 2001 today (Jan. 31) in Newmarket wanting to check out some of their home theaters. I got there at about 1 pm and started talking with one of the salesmen working there. I told him I was interested in some KEF speakers and he says that they have is a nice sale on the KHT3005BLK model for less than $1000, 50% off of the regular price, and sure enough, the sticker price had a regular price of $2099, with a sale price of $988.xx. They also had the KHT2005.3 model for $799. Upon further examination, he said that the sale should have ended Jan. 27, that he didn't have time to take down the sticker, but that he would honour the price for me for the rest of the day.
Wanting to think about it for a bit, I left and returned maybe an hour later, and find that they had changed the price tag for both models (I'm guessing for this week's sale), the KHT2005 showing $999.99, and the KHT3005 model showing $1299 with a regular price of $1700. After some demoing, I decided to get it at the price he (the same salesman) had told me an hour earlier. He then goes on to start charging me the new price, and when I brought up the price of $988.xx that he quoted me not an hour earlier, he pretends that that conversation never happened, and that the $990 price I'm thinking of refers to the KHT2005.3 model. When I told him that I specifically remember the two price to be $800 and $988, he basically says that they have never been at those prices, that the $990 price he told me was for the KHT2005 model, that he didn't change the sticker prices, that he was too busy to change the stickers, that the prices I remember are below their cost, etc...basically acting like I imagined the prices an hour earlier.
Anyway, that was the first time I was going to purchase something at 2001, and will probably be my last. On their website they say:
'We Are Committed to Give the BEST Value, Offer the BEST Selection of the BEST Brand Names, and Provide the BEST Customer Service the Home Electronics Industry Has to Offer!'
'At 2001 Audio Video, we take great pride in our staff, and they in turn take great pride in serving all our customers in a friendly and professional manner. As a company, we strive to have the most knowledgeable and courteous sales people in the business.'
None of which I experienced, the customer service I experienced was as far from this discription as I could have imagined. So please be aware of the dishonest, dissapointing, ignorant, untrustworty, misleading, insulting, deceiving staff at the Newmarket location of 2001 Audio Video.
Just like ESousa's review above, if anyone has any information as to how I would be able to contact their corporate offices that would be great.

Rude and lazy!
So my wife walks into the Cambridge location asking a sales person about the 50 Panasonic that they had in their flyer for 1499! I was pretty excited to see this price and my wife was more than happy to snag one up for me. Well she walks into the store asking about it and was told that it was a mis-print and that they wouldn't honor the price. They also went on to say that all other retailers run into the same thing. Which I agree but when I go on their website that same "mis-print" is still there with NO correction notice.
It would be one thing if the were polite in describing the situation to my wife and maybe even offer alternatives but instead they (in my wifes words" made her feel insignicant and caused her to storm out of the store with my 2 year old in hand.
To say I'm furious with the handling of this situation is an understatement. I could care less for the price. It was they way these sales people treated the situation.
I'm wondering if anyone has any contact info handy so I can get a hold of their corporate offices via email. I looked through their site and didn't find anything.

Went to 2001 in the Eglinton/Laird area and dealt with asst. manager. I had talked to him on a previous trip to Scarborough location-Warden/Eglinton where he had been a sales rep. and he was very helpful and informative. He spent 40-50 minutes with me and auditioned some speakers and even went in the back and brought out some that were not on display even thought I initially told him I was not buying that day. When I decided to buy I wanted to give him my business and phoned to let him know I was coming in. Although it was his day off, he came in and spent 2.5 hours getting my stuff together and took time with all my questions. Good follow-up phone call to ask me if any more questions and to keep me informed of delivery date. Great service and gave 20% off so I would highly recommend and will go back in future.
Just a note--I went to nine 2001 stores over 2 months and found that most were friendly and helpful. Most left you alone after the initial greeting and only gave advice when asked. I normally would let them know I was only "looking today " and most were still helpful. At the Brampton store, the salesman , after hearing I would not be buying today but maybe in a week or two, said that it was no use telling me anything or auditioning systems because all the stock would be gone as new stock was coming in and come and see him when I wanted to buy.
Also at Dundas/Hwy 427 location , I found that the salesman ?( seemed to be in charge) kept walking away after answering my questions and telling me " Come and see me when you're ready to buy". After 2-3 times of his walking away, I decided to walk away.
At Weston Rd store and Eglinton/Ellesmere locations staff were very friendly and asked for help from others as they were new and not very knowledgeable.
The other three 2001 stores were friendly also with okay service.
I would try to go in on off hours and try to get as much info and service as possible as long as they were not too busy.
As another post mentioned they claim to only give a store credit if you return goods but once I have everything up and running, hopefully all will be fine.

Salespeople are pretty useless and don't have much knowledge about home theatre stuff, there aim is to sell units. Do your homework and talk to the manger if you need to get a good deal.
I also found there unit are pretty high marked up but there is a lot of room to negotiate more so then futureshop.
I purchased an iPod Media Reciever @ Kennedy Location.

I recently purchased a Panny HDTV from 2001 in Woodbridge.
The sales reps were not pushy, and were informative and helpful. I didn't really need the TV right away, but I mentioned that for the right price, I will pick it up immediately. There was a fair price reduction (even though the unit was very recently slashed by $500) so I was pleased.
I was a little ambitious bringing the unit myself, but there was no way it would fit in my vehicle. It was around 6pm and they were kind enough to arrange delivery for the same night, delivered around 8pm to my door (short notice).
Overall I am extremely satisfied would shop there again in a heartbeat.
