Grimspoon cptcarter,

Has there been any movement on the installation of ftth in Kingsbridge neighborhood? I'm moving in next week and am currently faced with Lime Telnet as the best option. Currently on a 120Mbps with Cogeco in LaSalle so leaving that for Lime is...upsetting.

Want to jump on fibe as soon as possible.

cptcarter A bell guy just came to my door yesterday to inform me that installation of ftth will be starting soon! FINALLY! I recently moved over from dsl to Lime Telenet, which offers 20mbps.....not fibe speeds but much butter then dsl. Their speeds are consistent and I'm happy with the service, I only wish I switched over earlier. However, once bell finishes fiber here, I will be making the switch!

They've been installing FTTH in the Pointe West subdivision in Amherstburg. It's been pretty steady work for the past 1-2 months in that subdivision with some days being busier than others. Crews have been running the conduit and pulling the fibre lines. You can see coils of fibre on the sides of some of the houses as well. Hopefully they'll get to Golfview and the 'older' parts of Kingsbridge soon. I feel your pain!

Amherstburg, ON Fiber Build

Hey Guys,

Living in Amherstburg, in an area with no cable, we are stuck with very slow 2 mbps DSL. Prior to the new year, Bell along with the town announced that every home and farm in Amherstburg will be fitted with fiber to the home! Living in the Kingsbridge subdivision I haven't seen any work going on however checking with the mayor and with Bell's website, homes behind me that are a year or so old (that were fit with fiber) have access to ftth!!

I figured that if there are enough people that use DH from A'burg, we could all be spotters and report any activity that we see from bell.

MCIBUS Not sure where you live, but I had 50/10 and upgraded to 100/10 double bonded -Internet,Home phone & Fibe TV. So it possible you can gewt it. I'm in a older section of the city and I got it, so maybe you can to?

Bell fibe 100/10 with Fibe TV

I currently have bell fibe tv, internet (50/10) and home phone. My neighbours across the street are able to get internet 100/10 with their tv service. the highest speed I can get with internet and TV is only 50/10 with dual bonding. I assume this could be related to the cable run on the street? I was told I can get 100/10 but No TV service.

I live around Central and Tecumseh....just a couple of blocks north of Tecumseh. The card I received was from Bell but the contractor doing their work is a name I have seen before and have seen doing work in Windsor on a regular basis...but darned if I can remember it. And the card specified Fiber Optic and I believe it mentioned Fiber to the home....but as was mentioned prior...until it is in it could mean anything. And thanks for all the information in the above post. Cogeco is our local cable company and their promotion right now is hard to beat...but I am curious to see if Bell pushes hard once fibe is in.

cptcarter I'm frustrated with how slow it is taking bell to put fiber lines in my area. We have been "slated" for fiber the last year and yet nothing has happened. Does anyone know if Amherstburg, more specifically the Kingsbridge subdivision will be outfitted with fiber anytime soon?

57 A few comments:

1. Fibe can mean FTTN (Fibre to the Node) or FTTH (Fibre to the home). There are significant differences between these offerings with FTTN being inferior to FTTH. Make sure you understand what you're getting in terms of internet speed (which is bundled with Fibe) and Hardware capabilities.

2. I believe the cable provider in Windsor is Cogeco? You should familiarize yourself with the hardware of both possible providers as well as the channel offering. Each provider has pluses and minuses, so make sure the equipment does what you want it to and that you can get the channels you want. Perhaps you have some friends or neighbours that you can talk to about the two providers or what they think of their provider in particular.

3. When discussing this with provider CSRs please realize that they sometimes don't tell the truth, or exaggerate, or simply don't know and sometimes make things up to tell you what you want to hear.

Windsor Fibe

I received a card in the mail that informs me that Fiber Optic will be installed in my area in the next 2 weeks. I have the choice now of either going cable or Fibe. Can anyone give me some advice on pros and cons? Thanks!

youyou I guess i'll have to give Rogers a look as well.
Just so frustrating.
I can totally see how Bell would "con" you into believing it's actual Fibe internet..

ExRobotGuy My first thought was "get in line!"

I can't get it either. 5 year wait.

Can you hear me now?

ExDilbert We can't get real Fibe here either. Don't be fooled by the term Fibe Internet. It's probably just rebranded 6MBps DSL. From what I've heard, some Montreal neighborhoods can't even get full speed on that. We had Bell salespeople blanket the area selling "Fibe" a few years ago. It turned out they were installing 6Mbps DSL and satellite with a promise to install real Fibe within the year. That was 3 years ago.

Everyone here has cable internet. It works well and Rogers is better to deal with than Bell. Don't know about Videotron but it may be the only choice. It looks like they offer something comparable to Fibe.

Fibe TV not available in my area?? Is this a joke!

Hi Guys ,
New to the forum.

So i have currently been living in Mont-Royal for 5 years now and have had Fibe Tv and internet ever since.
When i moved in here ( new construction condo ) Fibe Tv was fresh and was just starting to roll out.
So i've enjoyed Fibe Tv and the internet speeds.
I just bought a house in Dollars-Des Ormeaux and when i looked into transferring my services to my new house i'm told that Fibe Tv is not available!!

I'm honestly blown away. How is that even possible. Fibe has been out for over 5 years.
My recently purchased house is in a big neighbourhood. I'm in total shock!
The online agent suggested i get Bell Satellite. Really?? No offense but satellite tv is horrible nowadays.
No 4K , No wireless receivers etc. WTH
They said Fibe Internet is available but not Fibe Tv. How is that possible?

I don't even know what to say at this point.. Is there any way of getting Fibe Tv?
Is there anywhere that we can get a timeframe of when Fibe Tv will be available in the area i will be moving to?

What's the alternative?
I've never been a fan of Videotron but does someone know if they have something that compares to Fibe Tv.

Thank you all for your help
