Dr.Dave @Blintok I moved your post to this thread.

TCM was in the Blockbusters theme pack and it's now in the Favourite Films pack.

They probably did it to balance out the number of channels per pack because Favourite Films only had 3 and Blockbusters had 6.

New packs:
Blockbusters: Adult Swim, Crime + Investigation, FX, FXX, MovieTime
Favourite Films: IFC, Rewind, Silver Screen Classics, TCM

Turner Classic Movies

Did TCM change theme paks on Optik?

I used to get it and am sure it was in a theme pak i have but now it seems to be in a different theme pak so i lost access to this channel.

Success in Telus Price Break

Not sure if specifics are ok but wanted to share that I literally halved my bill through Loyalty with Telus. Want others to know you can succeed by asking firmly and nicely. Must be partly the holiday pricing. This was for Internet 75, Optic Pick 6 and Home Phone. Now under $85 for 12 months, no contract. I did mention I was starting to use OTA.

Happy Holidays all

TechGuy8 I pay $9/m for the news theme pack. My invoice has the following message. I want my $4/m credit.

Quote:
CBC News Network channel update
As of September 19, 2017, CBC News Network (channel 800) will be removed from Essentials and added to the News theme pack. As a subscriber to the
News theme pack, you will continue to receive CBC News Network at no additional cost. If you have any questions, please contact us at telus.com/contact

s40 It sounds like they are grandfathering in the current viewers, so if you don't change your package too much you may still be able to get this channel. I forgot to add that i got the same thing on my bill too.

dreamertoo Have that notice as well. "as a valued telus customer, we have added CBC News Network as an individual channel to you account at no additional charge so you will continue to receive this channel. You may notice a 4.00 month charge, but a 4.00 per month credit will be applied to your account"

This is on my latest billing statement.

For customers on select promotions that began prior to February 28, 2017, promotional discounts will increase to offset the TELUS Bundle Discount rate change, keeping the overall monthly rate the same, until the promotion ends
They lower your bundle rate on one hand and raise the promotional discount - Net is $0 change.

Gilles I'd guess not. The bundle discount is outside of the actual TV costs.

PrimeBane Question with regards to the Telus change to the Bundle Discount rate (TELUS Bundle Discount rate changes | Support | TELUS.com)

Would this be considered a change to the contract? If so, is it possible to get out of the contract now because of it?

A couple years back, Telus changed the whole text message thing to the US. Because they changed that contract, I was able to cancel one of my handset contracts with no penalties. Does anyone know if that could be done in this case as well?

Thanks

57 You should look at Rogers Toronto - TSN pack is $18. SN pack is $15. Both in a big pack is $25 (including 4K and other minor channels.) I don't know if anyone actually pays that because many packages include those channels and it would be less expensive to get a package than the "minimum" plus some sports channels.

Because Telus charge everyone for both TSN and SpostsNet :

Seriously, they don't have to justify their logic, or lack thereof. They are selling, you are buying. If they don't get enough buyers they will have to correct their approach. For now, seems that what they are doing works for them.

The $5 bundle promo does apply on the price though (which I was surprised by), so you pay $20/mo for it if you have a bundle.

I've had Lite since it came out earlier this year. The downside of their system not supporting it automatically is that once you're on it, you can't make ANY changes to your TV package online. You have to contact them by phone or chat.

Yeah, pre-approved multiplex channels (of which the Sportsnet and TSN channels are considered, along with TMN and Super Channel) don't have to be sold separately. No new such multiplex channels will be approved though.
interesting with telus pricing of the sports channels.

I talked to telus support. here's the answer I received:

****

for sports you can have all sports (both TSN and Sportsnet) for $14.

you can also order just the sportsnet pack but we will charge you $14. you can also just order the tsn pack but we will charge you $14. So you are better off with all the sports channels because we will not charge less for the sportsnet or tsn pack.

****

Basically telus is charging such a high price for each pack that the consumer is offered no real choice but to get all the sports channels.

I firmly believe this is not competitive pricing or that telus is offering fair pricing. vmedia is charging $10 for the sportsnet pack and shaw is charging $8. why is telus charging $14?

Gilles Starting March 1, the Telus bundle discount will be going down from $5 per service to $3.
