Well I’ve been watching Crave mostly through the App on my Apple TV and I find it better than using my 9400 Bell receiver there is really no need to even record crave/HBO shows on Bell as they are all available OD anyway so it saves space on the PVR

In my opinion the interface is a lot better on Apple TV than on any of Bell’s receivers so it is not the same by any means.
If I am not mistaken Crave on Bell receivers is limited to 720P and on Apple it is 1080P
It would have been a lot easier if Bell had installed Crave Tv app on their receivers instead of using on demand feature.
Something like they did with Netflix on Bell fibe receivers.

Out of curiosity would you say it’s better to watch Crave on demand through my Bell TV 9400 or through my Apple TV? I imagine it should be the same experience but just curious

|JoshG||It looks like Bell may be gearing up to have Crave absorb Super Écran as well. The default URL recently changed to https://www.crave.ca/en, and there is French copy on https://www.crave.ca/fr.|

The press release indicates some HBO Max original programming will also be shown on CTV or "Bell Media’s suite of CTV-branded platforms" (probably CTV Drama, etc.)
This HBO Max press release lists the content that will be available in the U.S. when it launches in May 2020.
The Canadian Press article published by the G&M states that the subscription price for Crave/HBO won't be raised as part of the new agreement. The article is available at many other sites including

Bell Media Deal with Warner Bros. Brings HBO Max Original Programming to Canada
Bell Media Seals Long-Term Deal with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution to Bring HBO Max Original Programming to Canada
(Full Press Release follows)
– Premium content pipeline secured for Bell Media’s Crave streaming service –
– All-new series coming to Crave and the CTV channel portfolio include recently announced big-buzz titles GOSSIP GIRL and THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT –
– Deal also extends pay TV deal for first-run Warner Bros. feature films –
TORONTO and LOS ANGELES (October 30, 2019) – Bell Media announced today a new long-term exclusive deal with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution that brings original programming from WarnerMedia’s HBO Max to Canada, beginning in 2020. The announcement is the first for HBO Max programming outside of the U.S.
The agreement extends Bell Media’s programming partnership with HBO, one of the world’s most prestigious entertainment brands, expanding the company’s HBO content offering on its SVOD service, Crave, and reinforcing Bell Media’s commitment to delivering the most sought-after programming in the world. It also establishes a new alliance with HBO Max, making original series from the highly anticipated new service available to Canadians via Crave and Bell Media’s suite of CTV-branded platforms.
The deal extends the pay TV rights for Warner Bros first-run feature films adding to the strong relationship already in place between Warner Bros. and CTV for network series, and with Bell Media’s specialty services for cable series.
The deal encompasses new scripted series primarily produced by the divisions of the Warner Bros. Television Group for HBO Max. Series confirmed for Crave and CTV include buzz-worthy titles with massive star power in front of and behind the camera, such as:
“Bell Media has been an important partner with its channels and platforms bringing HBO originals to viewers in Canada for many years,” said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, WarnerMedia Entertainment and Direct-to-Consumer. “It is only fitting we are not only extending this relationship but also deepening it to include great new series produced for HBO Max.”
“As we approach the one-year anniversary of the all-new Crave, we’re more committed than ever to ensure ongoing access to the highest caliber content,” said Randy Lennox, President, Bell Media. “With this new HBO Max agreement, we are expanding our long and successful partnership with HBO and Warner Bros. and demonstrating this commitment to premium content in an era of increasing competition.”
“Bell Media has been a long-term and strategic partner for both Warner Bros. and HBO,” said Jeffrey Schlesinger, President, Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution. “It is only logical for us to expand the relationship by adding the upcoming original programming from HBO Max as well as extend the successful relationship covering our feature films, network series, and cable programming. All of this together makes Bell Media a great Canadian home for all of these assets from WarnerMedia.”
Specific details on the rollout of HBO Max programming in Canada will be confirmed in the coming months.

Crave will become home to (most of) HBO Max programming. Bell has signed a deal with Warner Bros. to bring most of the Max cataloge to Canada. The exceptions being programs where the streaming rights are held by others for the Canadian market. Shows like Friends (Netflix Canada) and the new Sesame Street.

|andyk||The Apple TV 4K App has an "up next" feature that keeps track of where you were in all other Apps except Netflix. If you only watch Crave TV, that's not important. The best feature is that the Apple TV 4K gets updated for most new streaming Apps and the picture is 2160p HDR. I assume the Crave TV picture is upscaled to HDR, but it looks great and there are no problems streaming.|

|Dylan McDonald||Okay to confirm - the Crave interface in particular is improved on an Apple TV? I'm assuming that it would operate in the same way regardless of whether I decided to buy an HD Apple TV unit or a 4K? Yes they are a little on the expensive side. A side note - I did try cravetv on my android box originally but learned within the first hour that it was pretty bad, so switched to plan B which was my Samsung TV.|

Crave being flaky is not unique to the Fire Stick. It's the same with Google Chrome. It doesn't work at all with most other browsers. Chromecast with Android is better but I hate not having a dedicated remote. Google Chrome has improved in PC remote support lately but picture resolution and sound with Crave are not anywhere near as good as with Amazon.
I wouldn't get anything less than a 4K streaming stick or box these days. 4K is the mainstream for TVs and there is a lot of new 4K content being produced. Never mind that Crave is 5 years behind with its fuzzy 720p picture and muffled stereo sound with most platforms. It's reported to be 1080p on the Apple TV and maybe the Samsung TV app. They might catch up to Amazon eventually.
