Heyjohn Hi. Thank you for your suggestion. I think that is the route I will go.

classicsat I will say what I use is a portable 1TB USB HDD (not desktop drive in a case) in my Blu-Ray player. Content is mostly static, but easy to plug into a PC to load more.

It works rather well. I see/hear no issues.

Heyjohn
NAS or USB3 to Homeworx/Smart BluRay

Hi everyone. I am trying to set up a small simple media center and was wondering if I should get a NAS like a DNS-320L instead of a 1TB hardrive in a USB3 enclosure . I have a small network with a Bell wireless internet hub/router ( I am in the country, limited and expensive internet ) wired to my Smart Bluray player and know I can attach the drives to the hub but I shut the hub off when I do not need the internet. I would rather have the media drives hooked up to my players in the entertainment center I tried the USB3 enclosure ( with an unused 1TB 3.5" drive) plugged into my Smart Bluray player and a Homeworx PVR but it seems to lag and it I can see small variations in the picture when the hardrive is spinning and the light on the enclosure is annoying. Would a NAS be a big improvement or would a regular backup external drive be better than the enclosure? Thank you.
