In our continuing story of the Adventure of Sasha Reads the News, in an article about the movie of Harriet Tubman’s life, how Julia Roberts was once considered for the role (wtf?), she chose to pronounce the term ‘biopic’ as biOPic (rhymes with myopic). It just keeps getting better and better. |

| mr.eous | Just when I thought CTV News was the pinnacle of getting things wrong, this reminder (click the link to see the abomination typo) that newspapers have become hopelessly inept, too. "Least We Forget"?? Yep, bravo, Waterloo Region Record: truly a new low. But I guess since it only showed up in the print edition, "nobody cares" anymore, because they're only obsessed with paywall websites and social media likes. |

More incredibly sloppy local news insertion during CTV's Your Morning. The "regional" news crawl at the bottom of the screen has glaring typos almost daily, including bizarre character encoding problems that often show up as jumbled symbols like "%@$" making me wonder if the ticker text is clumsily updated by someone on a smartphone. But the worst example of their incompetence is a community calendar event that rotates dozens of times during each Your Morning broadcast, where it says the location is "Bingermans". It's supposed to be spelled Bingemans without the 'r'; it's a huge conference/convention centre, campgrounds, waterpark, etc. operating in Kitchener for over 50 years, so there's no excuse for CTV to get their name wrong. Yet, this has aired continuously unnoticed for several weeks. |

| ExDilbert | Local news coverage is a joke here as well. CTV has combined coverage for the entire region. Unless it's a major story, sports or a publicity piece it often doesn't get covered. We see as much or more news from other cities that can be 100km or more away. It seems to be read by newscasters that have never even visited the city. The only reason CTV even bothers with a separate news broadcast is because it's mandated by the CTV. The only reason CTV still maintains the the stations is due to simsub requirements. |

| denben73 | The same applies to "Northern Ontario". It's the Sudbury Evening News. Sault Ste. Marie, North Bay and Timmins are lucky to get a story in, meanwhile every little fender bender or event in Sudbury is like a major breaking story. |

Funny thing is, CTV keeps getting rid of the good staff. Adrienne South was superior as a news anchor to Sacha Long but they let her go. |

Really a Shame! Very sad indeed when compared to other CTV locations that produce excellent newscasts. Vancouver Island....Maritimes...Northern Ontario etc Yes mistakes happen in live broadcasts but Kitchener and London are hard to beat!!

| LONSat | I don't know if they do a read through of the news script beforehand with a producer (if one exists anymore) but I have noticed that Sacha occasionally throws in a pronunciation blooper. Once a week perhaps. |

Tonights performance On this evenings news, Sacha pronounced 'Egerton' as 'Eagerton'. CTV obviously needs to employ the use of phonetics on the tele-prompter. |

blatant sensationalism Further chronicling the worsening of CTV local news, tonight's top story at six in Kitchener was a testament to the dated concept of action news: grossly exaggerated reporting. After the throw to the videographer, Stephanie Villella used the fear mongering words "most dangerous" no less than five times during her report, and with conviction each time. Hmm, yet the cited source of this story was a 24-page regional council report that doesn't have the word "dangerous" in it anywhere, not even once. Shamefully junky journalism. |

another whopper of sloppiness Ugh, can anything that's reported on CTV Kitchener be credible? During tonight's news at six, the anchor threw to one of several former CTV Barrie staff, Krista Sharpe. The graphic said "Live: 6:48PM" even though it was obviously not live, because at 6:48PM, it's pitch black outside, and where she was standing, it was still visibly bright daylight. Hmm, a "look-live" very poorly disguised. Hasn't happened yet, but if her old (and now new again) colleague Tony Grace gets trapped in one of these gaffes, I'm gonna start calling him Tony Disgrace!  A few weeks ago, token Guy Smiley, Zayn Jinah, did a couple extended hits from a quarry near Guelph, where he awkwardly pronounced it, over and over again, as a "query". Huh?? Who mispronounces "quarry" as "query" when you're out in the field standing right beside it? It's getting so bad that I've actually tuned to CTV London a couple times, to compare and contrast the follies. Say, why are people always seated so uncomfortably close together on London's anchordesk? |
