That's a pretty roundabout way to do a price increase...

couch3 on the fence about switching and wondered if you can subscribe to the center ice pkg seperately from the super sports pak they offer as I dont have much use for nba, mlb, ohl etc..etc..even though its probably good value . when I spoke to a csr a few years ago she said you had to subscribe to the super sports pack but she didnt come across as knowing for sure .

Leverage Time- new deals are on now

Hi folks

If you have been paying $150 and up for the last few months be aware. In todayís provincial Herald Bell Aliant ran nearly a full page ad advertising $119 locked for 2 years for the 3 service basic bundle. A quick look online shows eastlink offering similar deals. I know Bell indicates new customers only and Iím sure Eastlink stipulates the same.
But the idea here if you want a better deal but donít want the headache to switch , do the research then call thru to retentions and negotiate a better deal with your current provider.

Good Luck.

maritimer555 Hi Folks- i received a flyer at the door a few weeks back.

Summary is Internet+ TV Essentials Plus + Phone .

Supposedly for new customers.

lock in prices with 2 yr contract for $129.95 includes 2 dvr and 1 receiver, free install.

Dr.Dave That should work, but keep in mind that only "Essentials Plus" and "Maestro" Bundles come with Value Pack II and TV Channel Exchange.

The way I look at it is that you are exchanging the superstations, then you are adding them back in with the TMN package. You should double-check with Eastlink that their software actually works that way.

couch3 question regarding the swapping of channels

If I sub to the TMN+superstations (22.50) as an add-on to the value pack then the superstations become a redundent choice in the value pk lineup .

Am I allowed to then trade the superstations (4 of them) for choices available in the channel exchange batch of available channels since I'd already have them via the tmn+superstations ?

David1953 I was able to negotiate a similar deal as well, locked in for three years. I didn't get any free themes, though, but am still quite happy with what I did get. The only extra theme pack that I chose was the timeshift package, which is the only one still priced at $5. All others are priced at $9.95. The channel swap program is a nice feature, being able to switch out channels that I never watch, and replace them with channels of more interest to me.

I have been very happy with Eastlink through the years, and even happier now that my costs have been lowered. It's good to be able to support a local company, and they are great people to deal with.

2017 - retention Deal with EL

Hi Folks,

I hear from a friend this week that he was able to lower his Eastlink bundle this week by $35 including some free themes.
Iím no longer an Eastlink customer so Iím not sure EL call them themes.

He did state that they have changed their model and are allowing him to switch out some channels for others from another package as part of his renewal.

He also stated to get this discount he had to lock in for 3 years. I believe he is on their Maestro package. If I recall, his cost before taxes and LD was around $154

Good luck to others that want to lower their costs.

smallmj The trucks were here last month to run fibreop cabling in my town, so it is may soon become a viable option. Unfortunately I have had so many atrocious dealings with Aliant over the years that I am leery of even signing up for any of their services. The options that I was considering were Netfox (great reviews at $57) and City Wide (terrible customer service reviews but $48).

I've always found Eastlink to be a great company, but those price hikes are out of hand.

David1953 I'm relieved to know that it's not just me noticing this, smallmj. I like Eastlink as a company in general, but those steady speed increases over at Aliant FibreOp keep tempting me. I believe that they're at 300/30 now in their best bundle, or something similar.

smallmj David1953: it is not your imagination. I've been seeing the same thing. At first I though it was my Wifi, but then I noticed it happening on my (wired) desktop too.

Jimbo42: This is why I keep paring back my Eastlink services. I cut cable TV two years ago and haven't missed it. I switched my home phone to a Voip provider last month so now I just have internet. When I cut the phone they called me to ask why and my answer was $$$$$. I said that I wasn't switching internet yet, but was considering it. They then offered me a good discount for the next 6 months which I gladly accepted. When the 6 months are up I may still switch. I don't want to have to threaten to move every 6 months just to get a reasonable price for service.

David1953 Ah, yes, par for the course, jimbo42.

Also, could it be my imagination, but has Eastlink internet become less reliable lately? (More buffering while watching Netflix during the past month, etc., etc.)

jimbo42 Just got yet another notice of another price increase in services. They really like to gouge us subs dont they..
