I have DD-WRT on an old Netgear Router which I use as my VPN router so I may try it at some point in the future.
FWIW, I was told by Netgear Support that in AP mode the router gets its time from the Router and not from the internet. Don't know how that works but the time on the router was always correct.

|Danno10000||I flashed my Nighthawk with DD-WRT soon after I bought it many months ago. I just checked it and it has been running for the last 87 days without a power failure or reboot. Having said that, power has dropped in the past and the unit has always booted to full functionality. This is my first experience with DD-WRT and I like it. I could always return to the Nighthawk OS, but I don't think I ever will. There are some limitations, but overall it is rock solid. Wireless coverage is outstanding, no need for extenders anymore!|

If you should decide to consult Netgear, hopefully you are still within 90 days of your purchase date. Netgear charges for support after that time frame.
Check post 13 & 15 at the below link for my experience dealing with them.

Interesting. Problems #2 and #3 seemed to have corrected themselves after a reboot of the router. This is odd because its about the 5th reboot today and the first 4 reboots did not solve the issue. Since they were both time related, I'm wondering if this has something to do with how Netgear updates the routers time upon reboot.
My 1st and 4th problem still exist.

Netgear R7000 Nighthawk Router
Wondering if their are any Netgear R7000 Nighthawk Router owners on the forum who might be able to help with some problems I am having with it.
Currently, I am running with Firmware V126.96.36.199_1.1.38 (latest version) operating in AP Mode. Please note that is AP mode so I am wondering if that is the source of some of my problems.
I have had the device for about two months and generally Wi-Fi is working well but here are some of the problems I am encountering.
First, when the power goes out, the Wireless radios shut off so when it reboots after the blackout there is no Wifi. (the wireless radios are enabled). This has happened twice now so the radios may have come back if I had some other power outages but definitely didn't this morning after a power interruption last night.
Second, today I was in admin trying to fix things and the current date was Wednesday, 01 Jan 2003 00:13:27. Changing the timezone or rebooting the router does not correct the time. Anybody encounter this issue?
Three. In advanced wireless settings, "Turn off wireless signal by schedule" cannot be changed out. The checkmark is greyed out. I was able to change it before but not now.
Fourth, If I try to search for a router upgrade through the admin panel, it fails. It searches but never finds an upgrade or never stops searching by constantly refreshing the page. I wonder if this is because its in AP mode or something.
Appreciate any input from folks with this router.
