jshel101 I thought this was an excellent movie. I also read somewhere that ‎Jordan Belfort said that a lot of the movie was quite tame to what really happened. Not sure if this is true or not

rnmartinez I loved this film! It was brilliant, and very entertaining. Yes, there are some graphic scenes (intro?) but it really seemed to me to be representative of what happened in the 80s. I agree he seems to kind of get away with it, but if you see where he is now, in a way he kind of did.

solami Sure, there was a lot of obscenity in the movie but that made it unique in a different way. It was fun. The movie fails in the message part. This is the type of story that could actually relay something to the audience like it's not a great idea to get immersed in indulgence and greed. Some good opporunities did exist in the story line to show the decay and misery of Belford, they could put more emphasis on that. When he was drugged at the country club and tried to use the phone, when his wife leaves him, his attempt to seduce his wife's aunt, the ship going into storm... Lots of wasted opportunity to protray him as wasted and lost so that at the end of the movie we could say, "so that's what happens when you go too far." Instead, he sort of gets away with it, in the end.

andrewpcw People walking out due to "graphic" scenes? Okaaaayyy I mean, I guess it was graphic if you've never seen a porn or had sex. It was an adult-oriented movie and I wish there was more of those.

I found it very entertaining throughout. It was long but I was never feeling like it was too long. Leo was tremendous in the role as he always is.

eljay The movie certainly managed to be as over-the-top and self-indulgent as the characters and their lifestyles.

becks The movie was meant to show the arrogance, the over the top lifestyle and how detached these guys were from reality and it did just that.

talljak There was no story, and if there was the 500+ F bombs (most for a movie now) the sex, drugs and booze took away from it.

Yes good acting I guess by Leo, but I couldn't focus on any real story while being inundated by such graphic scenes.

I was expecting a crude movie due to the rating but holy this was too much.

That's a pretty accurate summary.

We walked our after 2 hours, as did many others. Should have left sooner.

becks It was for sure an hour too long but I enjoyed it more then American Hustle

PFD There's no way I can sit in a theatre for 3 hours. Will have to wait until DVD for this one.

asd I agree Dicaprio was great in this role -- I'm not his fan either.

Scorsese has become a victim of his success -- I think self indulgent sums up his need to use 3 hours to tell a 1.5 hour story.

I'm still looking for a legitimate best picture.

The Wolf of Wall Street

Synopsis: Witness the heroic and meteoric rise - and the inglorious fall - of stockbroker and master fraudster, Jordan Belfort.

Comments: Slick story and excellent performance by DiCaprio notwithstanding, the movie was overly-long, overblown, self-indulgent and, at times, gratuitously vulgar. "American Hustle" did it better.
