Danster Please note that this thread is for discussion on Resurrection. I moved the Leftovers to its own thread. Further posts on Leftovers in this thread will simply be deleted.

sherds For a nice flip on the resurrection/returned/come back motif people might be interested in The leftovers by Tom Perotta and the upcoming HBO series based on it http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...r-Rapture.html

Actually, Resurrection isn't the U.S. Version of the French series The Returned, it is just similar
After seeing Les Revenants(The Returned), Resurrection is similar to Les Revenants. Resurrection took some(Rip offed) ideas from Les Revenants and tweaked them.

rogue17 Just saw the first episode of Les Revenants (The Returned).

Must say it is better than Ressurrection after one episode. Will watch the others soon.

Dr.Dave It sounds like there are a lot of fans of The Returned - it will premiere on Space Saturday, April 19 at 10 p.m. ET. The original French-language series will be shown with sub-titles for English audiences.

Exid0r I have to agree with smegger2000 on the origin of Resurrection, this somewhat unoriginal series.

The French series, Les Revenants (The Returned), was inspired by the 2004 feature film Les Revenants (English-language title They Came Back). The second, 8-episode season of The Returned is currently in production and is set to air late this year.

The French series The Returned (Les Revenants) is getting an American remake (possibly for the 2014-2015 season) although it is still just in development, by the A&E Network.

The ABC drama Resurrection, was based on Jason Mott’s novel, also titled The Returned...but not based on the French TV series.

Quote:
"It is kind of confusing, we'll admit that," Resurrection executive producer Michele Fazekas tells TVGuide.com with a laugh. "But even though the premise is the same, I think we all have different takes on it and different stories."

However, the showrunners on Resurrection claim they have not read the book it is said to based on, or watched the French TV series The Returned :

Quote:
Although the show is based on Mott's book, it won't hew too closely to it. Creator and executive producer Aaron Zelman used the novel solely as a jumping-off point to pen the pilot before Fazekas and co-executive producer Tara Butters joined as showrunners. The two opted not to read Mott's book or watch The Returned.

"I started reading it and then stopped," Butters says. "It's its own thing, just like The Returned. We didn't watch that. We didn't want to be influenced by it or the book.
In conclusion, there is nothing original on TV.

What is your take on the show? A hit or miss?
I guess the miss is winning.

Danster ... and here I thought the original topic was how did people like Ressurection. Sheesh.

smegger2000 Capersx2: We will have to agree to disagree. But I didn't say Resurrection was original, it is based on a book as I stated in my earlier post.

PokerFace The first episode of Resurrection reminds me of The 4400 tv series that aired on the USA Network (2004-2007), etc.

capersx2 Sorry, you are wrong, but believe what you like. If it makes you happy to believe this is original, carry on.

smegger2000 Capersx2, the article says Resurrection is based on the novel The Returned, which has nothing to do with the French Tv series. The French series came out before the book. As the article states, A&E is making a new U.S. series based on the French one.

sherds The Returned played on Sundance usa but not Sundance canada . I mostly enjoyed resurrection but the religious connotations make it iffy for me .
