|Miles||Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep looking, trying to avoid being enticed by first 3 month prices|

|studlygoorite||I can tell you that SD has the worse picture quality when compared to Bell, and US Direct TV, but who knows, maybe they will compress less when the new satellite is up. New launch date is March 16|

|pierrehibou||Your story is exactly the same here. Thousands of dollars spent in equipment, during 13 years. I just moved from Shaw to Cogego, 1 month ago. Very glad! Picture is a lot better, more dynamic, less compression, no pixellisation, no drop outs, working perfect so far, and no signal loss due to the weather, many more HD channels. I have 3 receivers, i can record 6 shows at the same time and see them fron anywhere, i can control the receivers from anywhere by any portable phone or any internet station, and i can chose 30 channels one by one. I live in Shawinigan, PQ, maybe you don't have the same services in NS. One funny thing: the day I closed my services with Shaw, it was the quickest phone call I ever made with them: no waiting time, and the prep was the most kind and effective I ever had in all those years. Have a good move, you won't regret. (Sorry for my english).|

Looking for Opinions on PQ and Whether I should consider moving from ShawDirect
I think I've been w/ ShawDirect for more than 10 years at this point. I've got a few 401s ( still have the 201 HD box holding down some papers in the basement) a couple 505s and at least one 3xx receiver. I do have a 630 in the living room and in general am pleased with the functionality/reliability of the recent update. But, I worry my 505s/401s/3xx receivers are going to be bricks when SD moves to MPG4. I'm wondering if I should start looking around at other providers. FibreOp is being pushed hard in my area and is what I would likely be comparing against.
My primary wants are HD picture Quality. I don't want a billion soft SD channels. I just want the HD channels I'm getting to look HD... or at least the way HDNET used to look. At this point I think Netflix has better PQ than ShawDirect. Does anyone have any experience comparing the major Nets between ShawDirect and AliantFibreOp? Also does anyone want to speculate on whether SD will use the new sat's capacity to improve the quality of their service? Or will they add more channels?
One last one... Will SD replace people's 4xx/5xx receivers w/ MPG4 compatible 6xx receivers when they convert?
