TKG26 Really would they ever admit to work stoppage or a strike? Swept under the rug...
2012-10-07 03:29 PM
Arthur Dent If actually there was a strike for the reasons mentioned, this only means that Foxconn can't produce enough iPhone 5s. I don't see how Apple could be in trouble because of this.

BGY11 Others have reported the Foxconn strike as well, so there's nothing wrong with the BGR source.

UPDATE: Looks like there may not have been an actual strike after all.

NeilN That is, they post reviews you don't agree with so they're "completely biased" or lying?

NeilN I have no idea how you turn that claim by a non-disinterested party to "I think Apple know's they have a problem with the 5".

BGR have posted something different

BGY11 Foxconn makes products for many companies other than Apple, and at no point has it been stated that it was people working on building the iPhone 5 that had gone on strike (or even caused the big brawl that happened a few weeks ago).

Coop I think Apple know's they have a problem with the 5, when your manufacturer Foxconn goes on strike over quality control issues it can't be good.

BGY11 No product is perfect. Search for any Android device on XDA and you'll find lots of complaints. Scratched screens and devices, screens lifting from the bezel, broken speakers, for example. Since Apple sells so many iPhones it's understandable you'll hear a lot of complaints like those that have been reported.

If Apple rushed the iPhone 5 by this logic, then so many other products were rushed to market.

Oh, and as for poor battery life, I bet lots of people with that issue are using LTE a lot. That is a battery killer no matter what device you have.

Arthur Dent If history teaches us anything, the more "failures" every new iPhone release has, the better it sells. I don't think the 5 will be an exception from the rule.

QuickSilver Well I actually have the iPhone 5....from the 3....to the 4 to the 4S. Was a large BB user for many years.

Bad Maps (Massive failure, only 20% of Ontario is correct!) - Acknowledged by Apple

Screen Flicker - Not on mine
Dents/Scratches right out of the box - None on mine
Scuffgate - Mine is in a case - But have read the threads on MR
Reception issues - I find better reception in my area. LTE in the City is exceptional
Poor battery life - Depends on the apps you have and the ones running - different in tons of cases
Loose internal battery - ?
Camera Flash Issue - This is from shooting into direct light - DPReview actually has an article all about this. They actually praise the 5's camera
WIFI Glitch leads to big Data usage - Thought this was a Verizon only issue?

Wifi issue - http://ca.news.yahoo.com/iphone-5-wi...184650753.html

Google any of these items and you'll see all of the articles.

As a tech lover I am interested immensely in what BB10 will be like and if it will help Blackberry regain some of its prior "glory". Am I quick to dismiss the iPhone 5 as a failure? Have you ever used an iPhone for an extended period of time?
2012-10-05 02:50 PM
NeilN It's a "huge failure" because it doesn't match some techies' wet dream? Seriously? This the same Slashdot crowd who wrote off the iPod when it was introduced?

It was a huge failure, people we're talking earlier in the year it would be quad core, revolutionary, etc. It's nothing close to that, even the BB10 coming in January will have better resolution and DPI then the new Iphone 5! It has a host of issues which are evident because it was rushed!
