Brightonian They should shutdown Peterborough transmitter and keep Cobourg transmitter. Signal and frequency is superior.

Dr.Dave The applications and contour maps for each transmitter are available at this link. (Search for Corus)

LONSat Interesting. I could see Bell applying to use the same model for CTV and CTV2 especially in the Toronto area and also perhaps in Ottawa-Kitchener-London-Windsor. It would simplify their transmitters and re-transmitters and increase coverage to some urban areas.

Andysradio Does anyone know if Bancroft ch. 2 is on the air. I was near Bancroft Dec. 28, and I was not able to detect it.

NipissingOTA No kidding. I did a comparison with the power of the three stations in my area and it's night & day compared to what CHEX-DT-2 Oshawa is allocated for power. Yikes...
2019-12-27 03:56 PM
Humbar I think CHEX-2 DT Oshawa operates around 184 Watts, not much.

NipissingOTA Thanks Humbar.

I'm trying to keep track of what's happening elsewhere in anticipation of the digital conversion of the remaining analog channels in my area and elsewhere in Northern Ontario.
2019-12-27 12:05 PM
Humbar Yes it has, and its moved to RF29 at extremely low power. I've never been able to receive it, although I was always able to pick up the analog signal.

NipissingOTA I've been keeping tabs on the digital conversion of OTA television stations in various parts of Ontario. Any word whether the CHEX-TV-2 Oshawa transmitter has been updated to HD? Industry Canada indicated it was supposed to have been completed by June 2019.

Andysradio I can confirm that 36 Smiths Falls is now off air.

Also, Prescott/Spencerville is now in digital RF 28, though it maps to 26.1. The picture is digital and 16x9 but it sure does not look HD.
Is there anyone that can confirm this?
Maybe they have to upgrade a receiver or something.

Brightonian Global Cobourg RF27 sending out signal with no picture for the last few days. My tv is unable to decode it.

David Winter Scroll down, and you will see all the Channels that are changing, and CITS and Omni are next..

Andysradio A number of those transmitters Corus is shutting down have already been converted to digital. So *in theory* they should be able to move these transmitters to other sites that have yet to convert [eg Oshawa]
2019-06-13 11:05 AM
LONSat Shouldn't be a huge surprise but the CRTC is allowing Corus/Global to shut down 44 rebroadcast transmitters and reallocate the tangible benefits earmarked for (their) digital conversion to go elsewhere.
