Brightonian Once they move to RF22 you won’t get WXXI PBS Rochester. I know it currently doesn’t have the strongest signal, but they are increasing height and power in the near future.
I just hope for myself it is strong enough to overcome TVO which is actually reducing power on Rf22.
On side note John, I was wondering how you are fairing with WHAM 13 now with its temporarily reduced signal?

John Henderson Living in East end Belleville, I have a weird dilemma. I have two antenna arrays, one pair of UHF/VHF antenna's pointed at Rochester, NY. The second array has a UHF/VHF setup pointed at Watertown, NY. The dilemma is this: My Rochester array picks up TVO off the back end with a 60% signal strength from nearby Read, ON. It's about 20 miles NE. However, my Watertown array gets neither PBS or TVO, since the TVO is 90 degrees off centre. Of course WPBS is a straight point, however it's 82 miles over open water. The two signals cancel out. I like my PBS out of Watertown, but the idiots at TVO are being tardy at moving to their new frequency at RF22. Totally dumb.

Join the club.

I have three OTA channels in my area, of which one is in HD (Global). Like you, the CTV signal is in analog, as is CHCH. No CBC, Radio-Canada, TVO & TFO as all four were taken off the air earlier this decade.

While CBC/SRC are accessible via the Gem application (which from my experience is constantly stalling), many of us in rural & Northern Ontario are shut out from TVO/TFO, which means I'd have to pay twice to access these services (once through my taxes, and a second time via a television subscription or by streaming online). Considering that the larger cities have maintained their publically funded OTA signals (no less in HD or potentially in 4K in the future), this is a blatant double standard. I guess it's one of the downsides of living in an area that's out of site, out of mind in the eyes of decision makers...

Given that I live nowhere *near a border with the USA, I'm limited in what I have access to. I'm just hoping CTV & CHCH follow through with their respective transmitter upgrades to HD, like it is indicated on the CRTC website #CountDownToOctober2020

I have not received TVO Belleville since WPBS moved to 26. They are either running at lower power or there is too much i interference from Watertown (or a combination of both)
Well that's interesting. I check 104.7 from time to time and nothing heard yet. Perhaps it will be on the air soon. Thanks for the update!

Zank Frappa TVO wanted to shut down all OTA transmitters except Toronto 2 years ago, this has nothing to do with Ford, who I mostly disagree with.

heans the thing that pisses me off is that tvo in kitchener is on rf28 slated to move in phase 8 sometime next year and is interfering with wjet from erie as they were forced to move to rf28 this august to make way for ion tv out of buffalo.so now anyone that near lake erie on the Canadian side is screwed for seeing tvo and wjet tv out of erie for almost a year.dear tvo please get your act together and switch to your new rf 22.i think the real reason that tv moved is because doug ford has no money for tvo move.

Brightonian Thanks for the insight!
That very well could be it.
May also be the reason for the TVO repack delay. Perhaps they just want to do all the tower work at once.

Brightonian Yes 16 would be a better choice, though not ideal because of WNYO will be using 16 from Grand Island.
It almost seems to me that TVO Belleville is broadcasting a weaker signal since repack.
I now need to point directly at it to get it. And sometimes like right now it’s not coming in at all.

Andysradio TVO should move to RF16 where CJOH-6 was slated to go.
CJOH Deseronto is closing Oct. 2020

Brightonian That’s terrible news for me.
Goodbye WXXI ☹️

UniformOscar I sent a note to TVO last week and they are planning to have Belleville changed over by the end of September.

Brightonian It seems that Canadian stations only need to follow repack if they are causing issues with other Canadian stations on Canadian soil.
Hopefully they are waiting for a better option, because RF22 that they were suppose to go to is the same as WXXI Rochester.
