|Mozza||One of the reasons why I switched from Shaw to MTS in the first place was because MTS was cheaper for slightly better service. Now with the smaller HD packages, the new changes to channel packages and the $2 increase, MTS is more expensive than Shaw was for the same number of channels.|

Either way, the time and bother it takes to return equipment, get a new install (time off work to be home), and all the hastle for $2 a month, hell I spend that on coffee each day. MTS does a great job, has a great service, and sure there are problems now and again but you get that from anyone.
For my point of view MTS has a better service and it is well worth the money

There must be a way.....that would tick me off.
I mean would it not be in there best interest to keep the person who does the installs on their team??
I know they set up another MTS employees to test it, but I guess MTS isn't technically who pays you right..........anyway, I don't have to convince you that it is good, but if I was the CEO of MTS I would make sure all the installers ran the system at their home.

tobe, I'm just doing it in the meantime until MTS Ultimate TV is available in my area. My wife's been itching for a PVR, and they "gave" us one free (I think we have to give it back when if we cancel). MTS has been good to me, too, and they just put me back on a winback promo about a month or two ago like 2 days before my shaw appointment. We decided to stay at first, but my wife just couldn't wait any longer. Plus I get to finally experience HD on my new TV (only had it about a month or two).
I still like the Ultimate TV service better (I get to use it every day when I'm installing it) but I don't think it'll be in my area anytime soon
I don't see what's wrong with switching back and forth. I think it makes for good competition. I think both providers will not tolerate people who abuse it, but I think it's fair if someone goes with one for a year, switches to another for a year, etc. I don't think they like it if it's less time than that.

|vjose78||For the record, we switched our tv service to MTS just over a year ago and had no intentions of switching back to Shaw anytime soon. But we've had some issues with MTS over the past year and decided to switch everything to Shaw with their new deal. The problems included some phone issues that resulting in multiple service calls and replacing the wire to the house. We also had a tv outage about a year ago shortly after switching to them which left us without any television for a week which we were never compensated for. We figured we're already getting a deal why bug them for more, but we should have. We almost switched back to Shaw right then. And now we've had some billing issues. We signed up for internet in August, received our bill and made a payment, which ultimately went to our old phone account. At the same time we were switched over to a home services account and for whatever reason our payment was never transferred over and they could not explain that and continued to charge us for that amount. They finally corrected it, but we decided we would take up Shaw's current offer which is basic phone, digital cable, HD plus, free HD PVR, free Digital Terminal (which I don't even need since I already own 3 from before), and extreme speed internet for $84.95/mo for the year, which we felt was a really good offer. It also gives us a chance to try out Shaw's phone service and their pvr. We've never had a pvr and we aren't the type of people to switch back and forth every year and don't plan on it. And with MTS, we only had Classic TV, no Ultimate and no PVR. We don't even own an HDTV and are only getting Shaw's HD PVR for the PVR. We don't really need PVRs on every tv anyway. I also like Shaw's VOD system better since they have way more titles than MTS does or can afford. BTW, we've been with MTS for phone service forever and never got any loyalty perks!|

I don't understand why you would go to shaw? do you have an HD PVR? Thats 300-600 bucks. Do you like watching recorded TV on any TV? If not than shaw is for you.
MTS is revolutionary and I will gladly pay a little more. right now I'm on the promo and pay 48 bucks a month.
end of promo I will be paying around 58...still good to me.
Shaw has been trying to win me back for years, and have got real aggressive since MTS upped the anti.
I just don't understand people who go back and fourth for the best deal.......Pick your provided and stick with it. MTS recently gave me 5 bucks off my monthly phone bill and a 20 dollar Tims card for loyalty. Just out of the blue too!

|vjose78||Yes, you are right, they are giving a discount to existing Family pack subscribers for 6 months, which just means it won't cost anything more until the next year sometime. We are also switching everything to Shaw this. Gotta love their deals!|

|Macman||I had the family theme before they made it two themes, and they now gave me a $3.50/month credit for 6 months I think (maybe 12?) as a courtesy. I think anyone that had it before will get this. So I now actually have basic and 10 themes. But I'm switching everything to Shaw so my wife will get her PVR finally, until MTS' Ultimate comes to our area. Hope their phone service is more reliable than our last house. At least if it's only for 6 months, I might get the smokin deal to come back to MTS.|

Well it was to be expected eventually. MTS over the last few months have aggressively advertised their new service all over Manitoba. Obviously to attract customers they offered a variety of enticements to switch over or switch back to MTS. Once you stop with all the promo offers isnt it safe to say that most providers give or take a couple of dollars provide the same service within reason.
With Manitoba being a smaller market just over 1 million the providers
Shaw, MTS and Bell Express really have to work at getting customers to switch.
Up until a couple of months ago MTS TV was a minor player as it lagged behind Shaw & Bell. It was one of the reasons I never went with MTS.
Now it looks like MTS with their new IPTV system has nosed ahead but will everyone switch. How many times are you prepared to have installers come in and replace existing systems, change your internet etc etc.
Im not saying I wouldnt switch to MTS but really at the moment are they that much better than Shaw or Bell??????

|Mozza||This officially makes my MTS TV service more expensive than my Shaw TV service. How depressingly maddening.|

|vjose78||Don't forget if you have the Family pack that will now count as two themes and will also cost you more. Good thing I just got a great deal with Shaw and will be switching at the end of the week.|

MTS TV Price Increase...
... already. $2 increase for me in January, 2010.
Wow - they don't wait long, do they? What a joke.
