BGY11 Well, in all fairness a similar thing happened with the original Nexus 7 launch. It was far easier to get a Nexus 7 from brick and mortar stores than from the Google Play Store for quite some time.

audacity After the Nexus 4 availability fiasco I'm surprised that Google is going with LG again for the Nexus 5.

Francois Caron And the 16 GB model is sold out as well.

No news on whether there will be any more N4s sold through the Play Store.

For those who missed their chance to get a N4, hopefully the N5 will be easier to obtain than the N4 once it's released, and not encounter a 3 month delay before the phone is regularly in stock.

Larry So the 8GB model is out of stock - think they will manufacture more or is that it?

I need a phone to test my Android app, and this was the perfect device for that. I guess I could get the 16GB model, but $50 extra makes it less attractive.

Francois Caron It takes 4 to 5 days for deliveries to reach Montreal.

Google's wireless charger is freaky! However, it works best if you keep the rubber rings clean, or if your phone is stored in a rubber-like TPU case, otherwise the phone will slip off the charger. You might be better off with a third-party flat Qi charger.

BGY11 Now I'm considering getting a wireless charging device.

Anyone know roughly how long it takes from shipping to delivery? Looks like it comes from Kentucky

Be glad you got the 16 GB model. 2.5 GB is used up by the OS and default apps. You would have had only 5.5 GB left for everything else! Now you have 13.5 GB left, which gives you much more breathing room.

TorontoColin Almost certainly not. Are there any retailers which sell the phone directly? If they get their stock from carriers then this price drop doesn't reach them.

rsambuca Looks like the price drop hasn't been adopted by retailers. Has anyone heard if the Big Box stores will price match this?

BGY11 Well I'm going back to a Nexus phone (I had the Galaxy Nexus but eventually sold it).

The 8GB model is sold out so I went with 16GB

Francois Caron Slight correction to my last post. The 8 GB model dropped from $309 (not $300) to $199, and the 16 GB model from $359 (not $360) to $249.

Also, anyone who ordered and paid full price for a Nexus 4 on or after August 12 have until September 10 to submit a request for a refund on the difference ($110).

Finally, I got my replacement Nexus 4 today. Everything is back to normal. I feel whole again.

Francois Caron Quick update.

Got the RMA paperwork resolved. My replacement phone will arrive tomorrow.

In the meantime, Google has REDUCED the price of the Nexus 4 ahead of a planned release of the Nexus 5.

8 GB model: from $300 to $199.
16 GB model: from $360 to $249.

It'll be interesting to see how other manufacturers react to this.

Francois Caron Ugh! My Nexus 4 has stopped working last Friday. I got the dreaded "Red Light of Death!" No amount of fiddling with the charger or the buttons will revive it.

I've called them last Sunday, submitted a ticket, a few emails were exchanged, but no progress or RMA paperwork. Getting pretty angry over being ignored.

I'll try calling LG tomorrow.

jayson Spoke too soon ... Had a number of freezes with the only way to recover being a hard reboot.

Did some searching and read that the Nexus 10's had a problem back in Nov 2012 with a bunch freezing up. My suspicion is that I was shipped an returned Nexus 10.

Sending it back for a refund. I told them that I wanted the restocking fee waived as I should have been told initially to return it as the seals were broken.

After this experience, I can't trust them anymore. The support person agreed to waive the restocking fee but I didn't see that on the RMA they sent so this might not be over for me.

Google support said their would be no change to my warranty. So far nothing wrong I can notice.
