So has anyone found a way to setup Canadian cars on the US XM system? Also is there anyone with best of sirius US account who would want to add my radio and then split the cost of the total?

I have Xm Canada in my Vehicle which is about to expire and I cannot work our a reasonable deal with Xm Canada. If I try to switch XM/ Sirius USA will it work in Winnipeg, Canada? That is, does Xm / Sirius USA use different Satellites than Xm Canada?

It will work fine. They use the same satellites, so you will get the same reception.

XM Canada Expired but Online Radio Still on & Want to Switch to USA - What to Do

I have a bit of a dilemma and need advice. My XM Canada in my Car expired on Tues Mar 1 when they refused to negotiate the $99.00 / year Deal again. BUT when they abruptly cancelled my online Radio back in Dec 2010 I called them in Dec 2010 and they told me my Online Radio was renewed for 1 year - till Dec 2011. So now I ONLY have the XM Canada online Radio on my Computer and Nothing in the Car.

My question is if I try to get a deal for Sirius / XM in USA for the Car ONLY will there be a conflict with my Radio Code Number since I still have the XM Online Canada only on my Computer. Or would it be better to also cancel everything with XM Canada and try the many USA Deals for BOTH Car and Online XM / Sirius Radio? Any replies would be much appreciated.

I don't believe your online service is contingent on your radio service. You don't log into online with your radio ID and you don't even need a radio to get online service.

If you get the U.S. service for radio, your Canadian online should work perfectly.

Thanks a lot Starchoice, its funny that I was willing to renegotiate the previous $99.00 / year deal with XM Canada but they told me my last year's rate was a one time only special rate, so I told them to cancel my renewal rate at a much higher price.

activated US XM!

I was frustrated with XM Canada's refusal to add College Sports nation to the canada package (or any NFL Content)

I had to call them to cancel the renewal of my subscription and had to convince a escalated rep to let me do it! lol

I went ahead and obtained a US subscription before the CND one expired - no issue - did it online with a Can CC and a us address.

No worries all worked well! had to refresh a few times but all is good now!

Exclamation XM Canada on a Honda Pilot 2011

I just renewed my XM Canada on my Honda this December for one year @ $120. But just learned that XM US has new spanish channels (I'm latin american) which are unavailable in XM Canada. Is there a way to deactivate my account and switch to XM USA?

BELL HD PVR 9242 + PS3 40Gb (VIEWSONIC 37' LCD 1080i/DISNEY 15' LCD 720p), BELL HD 6100 + PS3 20Gb (LG 40' LCD 1080p)

2016 Kia Sorento

Currently Kia Sorento Canada SXM radio does not offer real time traffic YET the US counterpart does.

Does anyone know if I subscribe to the US subscription if I would get live traffic in Canada?

Can anyone confirm if XM USA and XM Canada still use the same satellite. I am in SK and wondering if I can get a signal in my car with a US account. Thanks in advance.

I am in Canada, i just purchased an xm adapter for my car off eBay and will be setting it up in the next few days.

I called XM USA to inquire about setting up my box.. i lied and said i was American, live in the states but would mentioned i would in Canada from time to time. I asked the CSR if i would still get servicein Canada and she had to put me on hold to check. She came back and told me in order to listen in Canada i will need to register with XM Canada.. I insisted that I am American and would be in the US the majoirty of the year.

Long story short, if i can sign up for XM US will i get full coverage in Canada (Montreal)?
Yes! I have been with Sirius XM Since 2006 living in Canada and i have gotten the American signal everywhere in Canada.(it cuts out a bit when I drive to Yellowknife, but that is way further north than Montreal). Be aware that you will not be able to access the app on your phone and have it streaming as it is geo blocked. Currently I am trying to get my grandfathered lifetime subscription transferred to Canadian so I can utilize the apple app streaming features, but that is neither here nor there! All you need to do is set up a fake american address, as I did when I set up mine.

It was a few years ago but I never had any issues with a US XM or SiriusXM in Canada. They don't know where you are when receiving the satellite signal. The Android app was not a big issue either. The app store refused to download the US app because I was in Canada. Turned off location services and used an internet proxy for a US city. Then it magically allowed installation of the US app.
