not an app, but is iPhone formated is www.cbc.ca/iphone

IMO very well done when you compare it to other websites that have done similar formats (mostly tech blogs to be honest.) CBC hit the mark with this.

Here's what I've downloaded so far, and my rating (sorry about the formatting):

Paid apps:
Texas Holdem'....$4.99 *****---best value for a game, IMO
SplashID............$9.99 ***-----expensive, but it works
Units.................$1.99 *-------terrible UI

Free apps:
Tap Tap Revenge........*****--great game, kinda like guitar heroes
Epocrates Rx..............*****--amazing that this is free
iPint..........................****---way better than iBeer, and it's free
myLite Colored Strobe..****---best of the free flashlights
PhoneSaber................****---only cause it's free
Remote......................***----makes you think about what else you could control
Weatherbug................**-----better to browse to weatheroffice.gc.ca/radar
NYTimes....................*-------a real disappointment
SportsTap..................?????---looks promising but have to wait until NHL season starts
Mocha VNC Lite...........?????---haven't tried this out but reports are good

Even in you're in the US, I think your computer will still connect to ITMS-Canada, and you'll be in the same situation
I'm going to try to access using the wifi in the hotel with my iTouch.. That way, there shouldn't be any IP restriction. I'm just hoping that when I get back home, it will still work.

There is no celsius option, and no Canadian radar maps. Hence 2 stars.

Yeah, I checked out the comments after reading your review to see if I missed something.. EVERY comment says there is no celsius. How can the developer be THAT shortsighted?

For Box Office, they say that the source they are using for listings has Canadian listings and they have confirmed that they will include Canadian listings in the next release.

Weather bug is usless for now until updated, which im sure they will.

Im angry about Yellow Pages, who ever thought of putting that in the Canadian store with no support for the Canadian Yellow Pages.

Still can't wait for the Ebay Mobile Canadian version to show up.

It's as if someone at MacWorld read this thread. They just put up this article

Review: Best Sudoku apps for iPhone and iPod touch

The best 3 from their review of the 18 versions were "Sudoku Vol. 1", "Big Bang Sudoku" and EA's "Sudoku". I haven't decided which one I want yet, but the article sure helps narrow the field.

I sent weatherbug an email about the lack of Celsius. Hopefully they will change that.

Good news about Box Office nicohockey9. That would be great if they expanded to Canadian theatres.

When an updated version of an app is released, is the store supposed to notify you or do you need to look for yourself?

I just downloaded NetShare by Nullriver for $9.99. It allows tethering on the iPhone 3G!!! I'm writing this on my Macbook, using the Fido's 3G connection, so I can confirm it works. Apparently it was pulled from the App Store quickly, only to re-appear today.
One thing to note - the iPhone is getting warmer than usual.

Great app!

I have bought Blackjack 21 (was on Installer as iBlackjack) which seems to be the best Blackjack game. Also got Texas Holdem' which is made by Apple and has very good controls. No verdict yet about the AI but it seems OK so far as Ive just won the beginners tournmament.

Teh movie apps Box Office and Showtimes are updated to work in Canada now. Weird issue is in Showtimes the AMC Young and Dundas theatre in toronto seems to have incorrect location settings, it shows up as being 900ish miles away from me even though it is in fact a 20 minute walk! Box Office doesnt even display it as an option.

Box Office disappeared. I tried out Showtimes, but as polaris said, the location service is questionable. I put Google showtimes as a bookmark on my home screen and does a better & faster job. I'll try out Box Office if/when it reappears.

Speedbox (a speedometer that uses GPS to calculate speed) is alright. Have to be travelling at a constant speed for it to display the correct speed, otherwise it's all over the place.

SportsTap and ScoreMobile both look great. I'll get a better sense of both apps once NBA & NHL start up again, as I don't really follow other sports very closely.
