The biggest issue with the Touch is the operating system locking up. That is why I recommend to change the setting to end applications by pressing "X" as opposed to minimizing them. This change keeps my Touch running without having to reset it. Most salesreps will advise against buying it without actually learning how a simple fix would prevent the issues in the first place.

(Oops. I spoke too soon. I did find the option in Task Manager)

Yes there is a fairly steep learning curve coming from a normal phone, but you can really customize it to what you want and get very good performance.

Deckster, I read the manual late last night and it seems okay.

I dont use Opera on my laptop but I have heard it works very well ie better than IE which is the default browser on our TOUCH?

What do you think?

I tried it but I didn't like it. I guess I got used to using IE on my Q and this is the same. A lot of people swear by Opera though. Install it and make the decision for yourself.

If you do a search you can find forums for PPC users and WM users. There are modified ROM's out there that enable the GPS chip built into the Touch that will allow you to use software like Tom Tom to have a full function GPS system in the Touch.

If you are obsessive the Touch could turn into a new hobby. Mine is mostly stock with a few applications like XM and Sirius radio added on.

That's . I am a big XM fan (I have two radios: a portable INNO and an in car SkyFi2).

What is involved in getting XM to play? You need to pay...who?

bell Touch or Telus Touch

From reading this form, I think I am going to get a touch.
My main usage is still a cell phone with email.
Though I have two questions:
1st. Is the touch as a phone is good?
2nd. Who has a better plan, bell or telus?
Thanks for anybody's input.

The Touch has very good reception, although when I first got it the bluetooth was a little flaky. It has a newer OS on it now which fixes that, so it won't be a concern to you.

Bell offers the unlimited data for $7, Telus is $15. Best value would depend on the voice plan that suits your needs.

Dexter, you seem to be fairly well-informed about the Touch. In regards to the Bell $7 unlimited offer how does the Opera mini-browser affect things when it's showing full html pages or is there another data option I should look at.

Thanks,

MT

with Bell, since I need to get call display/message center/text message etc, it end off at $15 with unlimited mobile browser (fun 15). (I asume this is so called unlimited data plan)

with Telus, somehow, i could not find the $15 unlimited data plan online or in store. could someone direct me to the right place

Opera makes no difference, the only restriction is you cannot use it as a modem by tethering it to a computer
